Black Pearl surface adjustment success
« on: January 24, 2008, 12:25:10 AM »
I tried the BP on a 40ft house shot with OOB finish and was not impressed at all.  The ball was almost over/under...definitely inconsistent.  Upon reading some posts where folks had used the scotch-brite on their L/LM balls, I hit mine with the gray pad & water on my spinner.  After 20 seconds of gray scotch-brite, the ball had a lite sheen...still a bit shiny.  Definitely one tough coverstock!  I would probably not waste my Abralon pads on any L/LM ball, the ball would most likely wear the pads out on their first use!

The surface change produced a completely different ball.  Surprisingly good length with a strong back end movement.  I was most impressed with the consistent look I received shot after shot.  The read was what I was looking for in the BP.

I shot my first 300 last night with the Black Pearl in it's first full game of use!

I did have a BP, but recently sold it. It was at it's best for me sanded with the maroon Scotch-brite pad that came with the ball, and followed with a 500 Grit Abralon Pad and re-polished with the Legends polish that came with the ball.

Robb, polish or no polish after you sanded it to 1000 Grit?
