Terminator Ressurection
« on: December 31, 2010, 02:48:15 AM »
just got this ball in today. i'm hoping to get it drilled tomorrow.

i was thinking about going with a 4x4 pattern on it. however, not totally sure yet. i have other l/l pieces that are drilled with length pattern on them. i've had pretty good success with them, including my terminator rebellion.

my birthday is coming up in a month and i have the widow maker on my list. hopefully, i'll get that for my birthday.

anyway, i've been debating on putting the length drilling on the new terminator and put the 4x4 on the widow maker. any thoughts?

thanks...

It depends on your style (release and delivery specs) and the amount of oil you are facing. Both are very strong balls, normally requiring either a good deal of oil or higher than average ball speed vs rev rate delivery. 4x4 is usually considered a fairly strong drilling. As long as you have enough oil or ball speed, they can work. As for specifics, you'd need to provide your delivery/release specs and the ball you're using now (surface and drilling) to help provide people here with enough info to help you.

The Terminator is going to handle a notch more oil than the Sting.  If you use a 4x4 on the Sting and a length drill on the Terminator, isn't that drilling them to handle a similar  amount of oil?, the similar conditions.?
Is that what you want to do? (I don't know)

Of course,  there's the other side of the coin: any reason why you're not discussing this with your driller?

i'm actually switching drillers. going with another guy that has been recommended to me several times in the past.

i was trying to post a vid of me throwing so you guys could see how i throw it. don't have the specs to share. i know, makes it tough to help and that's ok... thinking about going ahead and drilling it 4x4. however, i'm taking some of my other equipment with me to show the driller. see what he suggests...

Don't drill the Resurrection the same as your Term.  They are virtually the same ball.  You will get an identical look from each.  If you are on heavy oil, I'd try a pin down drilling to get something different.

thanks for the suggestions...

this layout worked well. reads earlier and kept a continuous back end to it.

was really happy with it. plus, i was really happy that the guy i took it to have it drilled only charged me $25 bucks. i doubled checked with him to make sure on the price, since i got the ball off the internet. i was willing to pay more to have it drilled knowing that i brought the ball in and didn't buy it through him.

he was real cool about it and said it's no problem. that part of the reason for it being so cheap is that i don't use inserts. he also gave me a couple of free games to try it out.

this, to me, was the great way to treat me as a customer to garner more of my business. which, he will definitely be getting a lot more business from me and i will also let others know around me to go to his shop as well...

Just drilled my new resurrection last night, threw two practice games with it last night on what turned out to be completely dry lanes.  Its way to much for anything less than medium oil and I am only a med speed/med revs bowler.   Its drilled stacked, pin to right of ring finger, Cg kicked out slightly.

I have been throwing my original Terminator and ave. about 215 with it on my league.   Had this one drilled for a bit more length.  We'll see how it works tonight especially since I changed my thumb pitch to get  a bit smoother release. I'm looking for big things from this ball as I love the original .

Also got new the rebellion, haven't drilled it yet until I decide on thumb pitch.

Have thrown the Resurrection for about 20 games now, have shot a 288 and a 269 with it in the last week alone. The ball is simply a monster when near the pocket, the pins stay low and the mix is fantastic.    Its drilled stacked, pin just to right of ring and CG kicked just slightly.

I love LM equipment, fits my shot just right.
