the buzz surface
« on: March 27, 2008, 08:13:51 AM »
as some of you know I have a buzz and I bowl so well with it that my brother said he wanted one. so his was also bought used but is in better condition and in OOB surface which is polished.

I was wondering if this ball is better left polished or dulled a bit.

im thinking the ball fits me well at grey scotchbrite surface but just wondering how everyone likes theirs.... another words I answered this question myself as I like the variety of conditions I can play. just wondering how differnt the polished one is...

actually now that i think about it these balls are drilled same span (maybe 1/8th inch longer) same drill just the weight hole is up high mine is on my pap.

I should just throw the ball to see the differences.

the one on the left is mine... my bros is on the right... obviously not drilled yet as you would know. he has much larger hands then me.

Since I throw a 'Yeah-Baby' I keep my 'Buzz' at OOB but I keep that puppy cleaned and highly polished everytime I use it...the balls a freak

I have 2 Buzzes, now that I've returned from Nationals.

One with a high pin left in box polish (I used it on the BTM).
My original has the pin under the ring finger and I lightly scuffed it to differentiate between the two. Between the different drillings and the surfaces, I have "goto" balls for even arcing, medium to medium+ and skid/flip medium-light to medium.

I've used my Buzz in both OOB and lightly scuffed and I must say the latter is better for me.  The Buzz OOB was too long for me even on the medium house pattern.  If I played straighter, I ran into an over/under reaction, an inconsistent read.

Thankfully I tried changing the surface before getting rid of the ball (thanks Jeff!)  I took it to grey Scotchbrite and added a LIGHT dose of LM polish.  For me, this turned the ball into a gem...so much so I will pick up another one to try a different drilling!

To anyone with a Buzz, throw it OOB...after a few games, if you do not get the read you like then try a surface change.  I'm glad I did!
