The Sting and the Hornet are on 2 ends of the spectrum for this line of balls. The Sting has a hardness rating of 73-75 and the Hornet is at 79-80. The Sting also has a light particle load. The Buzz is "closer" to the Hornet than the Sting (IMO). For me, the Buzz is 5 to 7 boards stronger than the Hornet. The Sting is not 5 to 7 boards stronger than the Buzz (about 4-5), but because it has particle in the cover, it will handle a heavier volume of oil and start up sooner than the Buzz.
Back to your question. The Hornet will definately go longer than the Sting and depending on the backends will have a strong to mild arc. It will go long on oil. If you are bowling on drier conditions the Hornet would be the better choice. If you have heavier oil, then the Sting would be a good choice. If you're looking for a great medium condition ball, give the Buzz a try.
