I have a chance to pick up a NIB one for a good deal, I use to throw LM/Legends a while back and the ones I had I really liked. I want to try them out again now that my game has improved.

There hasn't been many reviews or much said about this ball. What have been your guys experiences thus far. I have been wanting a particle pearl in my arsenal, for carrydown situations. The high RG sorta makes me think carrydown will eat this ball up though.

Plan on going 4 1/2x 4 with the pin just slightly above ring if I make the purchase, want some feedback on the ball first.

I don't know about the Counterstrike, but here's some food for thought. I have a Storm X-Factor Ace, which is a particle pearl, and it seems like its allergic to carry down. As soon as I see it not make the turn it used to, its time to put it away, or try to navigate around the carry down. I don't know if this is attributed to the drilling (something along the lines of a 5x5 or so), or to the type of ball.

I just tried a Counter Strike.

Since I went back to 15 lb balls, all my pins are either at the level of the finger holes OR below them. I put the CS's pin above the ring finger, and stacked the CG below. I then sanded it to 4000 grit using Abralon pads and reapplied a heavy coat of Snake oil. It comes "1200 grit sheen".

It is earlier and stronger than my Twisted Fury Solid and I can barely use that anywhere. I'm hoping to use either the TFS or the CS in a PBA Experience league this summer on Chameleon, Scorpion or Shark pattern.

I can only imagine a high ball speed, lower rev rate bowler using it on medium oil.

I suspect any use of the CS on (virtually) any amount of carrydown for an average rev bowler (250 - 300 rpms) without high ball speed (less than 18 mph), will show that it eats carrydown for snacks, and spits put oil for change.

I use this ball a lot when the shot has been pretty much broke down. Just this weekend I use this ball at 1:00 P.M. squad at the Glenn E.Bair in Hanover, P.A. where the shot was pretty beat up due to the fact it was the third squad of the day. I had a great look to the pocket and the carry was good too however, if I let up on the speed I paid price due to how dry the lanes were. I had to keep the speed of the ball at 17.5 MPH to around 18.0 MPH to have a great look at the pocket and to have a great chance to carry the rack. The ball is drilled pin up and has a small weight hole for balance. I love this ball when my buzz attack or black pearl can not get the job done I pick up the counter strike to finish the job the other balls started

I think the ball is a good choice. particle pearls are a good choice to HELP blend out a pattern when everything else is either jumping off the dry too much or hitting a bit of carrydown.

not every part. pearl is created equal but I like my black pearl so I would imagine the counterstrike to be good as well.

you can always alter the surface slightly if its too early or not biting through the carrydown.

This seems to be what kind of reports I have seen so far, it is either real strong for some people, or somewhat mellow for others. Although everyone game is not the same. I am a 350-375 RPM bowler, with about 16-17 MPH of speed, PAP in profile.

I am assuming I would need to drill it a little weaker than what I said earlier in my post. I would be using it on a solid well dressed medium oilto slightly medium-heavy pattern that is a wet/dry condition, the backends are normally realy clean. I like to use Rico pearl's, to start out, not plaring alot of swing, but once 3rd game comes along there gets to be quite of bit of carrydown that comes to play. I normally switch to 4000 finished strong pearls, which works ok I guess, but would like something that wouldn't be so sensitive to it. This ball seems it would fit the bill.

Ya I thought about a Black Pearl to since the introduction I have wanted to get my hands on one of those, but they are quite a bit more in price, and for the good deal on the counter strike, it is hard to pass up.

Considering how relatively strong the CS is, I would not think that a Rico drilling, which tend to make balls earlier and smoother, would be a good idea for this ball. Otherwise, it should work almost perfectly for the oil pattern you describe.

I think you misunderstood my reply. I was saying that I typically use a medium oil pearl that has a modified Rico drill on this pattern to start. (Rattler)

I plan on doing a pin slightly above ring finger, or maybe pin in ring finger, which I have grown to like being it is gives you a little of both pin up and pin down traits.

Theres a guy at one of the houses I bowl at that has both the sure strike and the counter strike. This is a high friction house, and as you would expect, the true pearl (sure strike) out hooks and performs his counter strike.

The guy also bowls in the experience league I am in on tuesdays. When oil gets pushed into his breakpoint, the CS won't recover. It's a very smooth controlled and predictable ball, but it's not an heavy roll oiler or a big back end ball. It didn't respond well to carry down for him. And he opts to use the sure strike and go around the carry down in those situations.

Both of the guys balls are drilled label, and they both have OOB surface. He is also a rev dominant player who tends to play in deeper on the lane. But when he can play more direct with this ball and not try and cover a ton of boards this ball hits hard.

PS. This is all from observation. I can't throw his stuff because his fingers are way too big even though we have a close span. I'm sure with the proper layout and surface adjustment you could get the look you are looking for with that ball. But I have neither one of those balls (I'm currently throwing a Terminator Rebellion and a Big/R Bang).
