TM3: Counter Strike particles?

Tony,

I believe the CS's particles are the old-fashioned, Super Carbon type. At least on my ball they feel that way to me.

Can you conform this? or are they the newer softer type that can be changed with every day abrasives?

Icewall,

I've changed the suface several times on my CS. The ball never fails to make the turn. I like it a LOT better than my Black Pearl, for whatever reason.

I have almost bought a Counter strike so many times it is ridiculous, but something has pushed me away.

Charlest what kind of reaction shape do you get with this piece and whats the layout? I have heard some say it is super smooth and others say it is a monster in the back similar to the Sure Strike only handling more oil and better midlane read.

I like the Black pearl particle usage

yeah same as my black pearl. surface changed about 3-4 times and ended up going back to OOB and it still is one of my favorite balls for med-heavy

Since it was designed by coverstock and surface to be very smooth, I used a drilling that, for me, provides a sharper breakpoint: pin over the ring finger and CG stacked below the ring, approx a 5x4, pin 3.5" above the midline.

With the stock surface, even that had a fairly mild backend on medium oil. I've used 2 main surfaces since changing the surface. One, P2000 grit plus a gloss UFO polish, which provided a breakpoint just short of being skid/flip on medium to medium+ oil. Two, the surface I have right now to handle extreme carrydown, P3000 grit + a very light Lanemasters factory finish polish. The particles are now sticking out such that they are easy to feel (the reason for my asking the original question). This provides a strong arcing backend for my ball speed and release. This surface has less overall hook than the first one.

Because of these particles, I beleive the UFO polish in surface #1 did not reduce the backend or the overall hook at all, but just provided length.
