Guys - I would appreciate the advice of those in the know. In the UK I can still get hold of a NIB 15lb Yeah Baby, a Big Kahuna, a Kong, a New Standard, an AP & AP2, a Guaranteed & a Terminator R (but unfortunately not a Sting (not for the want of trying), or a Buzz or a NS2). I currently have a 15lb Masterpiece, a Big Bang, a WCPP and a Dynamic Power. Cut to the chase - should I cut the apron strings and look to the future or maybe hang on in there with the old timers (like myself) on the basis that the babies will be around for some time? Not that I can afford all of the above but a Yeah Baby & maybe one other might bring some smiles into my life. Having said that I've never thrown one of the two existing Black Pearls so maybe I'm missing a revelation there as well? The feedback on the Black Diamond looks good, however, so perhaps I should just forget the past?

May I suggest you get one of the New Standard or the Yeah Baby and then, from now on, concentrate on the new ones? While I personally consider the above 2 to be great balls for medium to medium-heavy oil (As long as you don't have a very high ball speed), the new LaneMasters balls have a big advantage in being able to have their particles as well as their surrounding resin base modified by normal abrasives.
LM is still making many very good to great balls.

If I had the cash, I'd have you buy all those and send them to me. But to be more serious - like charlest said there are advantages to both the old and new balls. No, those older pieces will not be around for very much longer (at least NIB) but the newer pieces are very worthy "children".

^1 on the YB and the NS ... and I'd add the BK to that list too.

I think you would be silly not to try any of the newer stuff. They have been raved about since their release. They are probabaly making their best equipment ever especially since you can adjust the surface much easier. The older ones was like taking sandpaper to steel.
I will say though pick up some of those old gems before they are all gone.

Thank you guys for your words of wisdom. I think that I will endeavour to get one of the Yeah Baby's & call it quits on the old lineage. My wife is already complaining about the number of bowling balls around the house (& she hasn't looked inside my car boot recently). However I can imagine that on my deathbed I might pose the question, "but how would've the Big Kahuna reacted?"
Dammit, now you've got me thinking again......

They always seem to do that, even if they're bowlers.

Compared to the Yeah Baby and the New Standard, the Big Kahuna is a skid/flip ball, like the new Black Diamond is supposed to be. Medium load of diamonds in a particle pearl coverstock (it has far too much pearlization in its appearance to be a total solid) and a low flare core make for a strong backend.
ANd this is even when you put the pin under the bridge area/ring finger.
