Kong nice ball !!!
« on: April 27, 2006, 09:43:19 AM »
Well i had to get one after reading how great it was on lanes that are starting too break down and medium - lighter shots. I had it punched pin under ring finger and cg kicked out at 45 degrees with something different a target hole placed inside my pap. Kind of a Morich trick but this ball lopes the first 40 feet or so, it will appear like it will never start and boom off it comes off the break point. This ball hits very very hard and it gets very angular when it comes in, i did leave some ringing 10 pins but there was pins flying in all directions. I bowled a few games on the fresh shot before league and i was able to still carry pretty well squared up, so it can be used in mediums on the heavier side. The ball really starts to shine when the heads go away some though, by the last few frames of a 3 game set i was able to swing the ball and not play so direct at the rack.

If you want a good 1-2-3 combo i personally recommend the following three balls:

Heavier Big Bang
Mediums Masterpiece
Lighter Mediums Kong

All have amazing hit for me the jury is still out on the World Class i have a 2nd World Class coming to try a different layout on it, but the 1 st World Class has been off and on for me leaving me funny leaves.

Yes mp way stronger than i expected, i pmed you about what i thought on each ball that you asked about. The Masterpiece is super strong resin base, i had to tame it 3 times to get it right for me. Now it is at 2000 abralon very lightly on top of brunswick high gloss polish, still shiny but it hooks on the backend very nicely.

Kong after talking with my driller has a target hole 2 inches inside my pap to tame it down on the backend, with an early roll drilling and it still has a huge backend reaction. Weird ball very dull and still goes long and strong, it looks like charcoal looking at it. I thought it would be alot earlier with the drilling and surface but guess what wrong!!!!

Guaranted!

My MP is drilled 5x4, no weight hole, pin at bridge level. It handles more oil, hooks more and earlier than my Kong, drilled 4x4, pin under ring finger, CG stacked below. That was pin at stock surface finish (Very high gloss polish, finished with White nylon pad). MP is now at 4000 grit abralon, same drilling. Still way strong than Kong, PLUs it still flips VERY hard.

I believe that the resin used on the Masterpiece is stronger than the resin base of (before the particles were added to) the New Standard, the Kong, the Big Kahuna. While the NS and the BK are stronger than the MP, it's is solely because of the particles added to the resin. FYI the core of the NS is lower RG and higher flare than the MP's core.

This corresponds with what I have seen so far of my MP and my "old" Kong.
(FYI My Absolute Power is also stronger (earlier and handles more oil) than the Kong, but weaker than my MP.)

Here is my 2 cents on this subject (check my profile for the layouts so that you understand my order here; "Strongest" to "weakest" balls, descending order:
- Big Bang (particle) floods
- World Class (particle) heavy
- New Standard (particle)medium-heavy
- The Buzz (pearl reactive) *for "broke down" patterns*
- KONG (particle) medium to med-light

I have an Absolute Power, Big Kahuna, and a Satisfaxtion due in within the month ... I'll update this list and my profile as to where the "fall in"; the AP is reactive and SHOULD be between the NS and The Buzz, the BK will be "polished and flippy", and the Satisfaxtion will be drilled for light conditions. I'm also getting an ARROW within the next week or so as my new spare ball to replace my RG Spare Tire, and I'll get the Straight Flush in July, when it's available, to replace my TRACK Desert Heat ... for light to dry/burnt conditions.

You now have an idea of my planned arsenal for the 2006-07 season !!! And it'll be 100% Legends/LaneMasters balls !!!

I got it use Kong for the 1 st time in its element that it made for, this ball is simply amazing i would like to personally thank Adam Ishman for the layout advice and the great fit he and Sakae provide for me. Both guys drill for K & K Bowling Services they take the time to get it right the 1 st, i asked Adam to talk with his sources that throw Legends and he made some calls to other top notch bowlers/pro shop friends. Adam went above and beyond the call of duty here, he told me when i picked it up if it did not work he would buy the ball from me

Well Adam you nailed this ball on the 1 st crack, this ball for 2 nd shifts with some carrydown is the NUTS. I simply could not miss the pocket the entire night, this is why i go to you and have already learned to love the legends brand. I went 266,243,234 for 743 with the same ball making minor hand adjustments the whole night, it was like being left handed i made maybe a board and a half move left with my feet. The high average bowler who i was right behind struggled to even get to the pocket, it was position round we were out of winning 1 st place but the other anchor has chirped at me for a few weeks that he has taken 1 st place and high average. For bragging rights i took him out he shot about 530 something letting me make up the 150 pin total lead he had on me for high average.

This ball hits like a flipping Mack truck do not expect alot of hook, it gets stronger as the heads go away but it if you are good at changing your ball roll i would highly recommend this ball to you. I cant wait for King Kong if they are allowed to make that ball, the legends/lane master balls just simply hit better.

Layout pin to pap 4 1/2 cg to pap 3 1/2 target hole 3/4 " wide 2 1/2 " deep, drilled under ring finger and cg out in 45 degree area. Target hole placed one inch inside pap to smooth backend reaction, do not know ending statics.

All i know that i have struggled most of year on this shot and that this ball made me feel like i could not roll it correctly. If i spun the ball it held another few feet and backended more if i can more up the backend it held line. I had about 6-7 10 pins get kicked from behind from pins in the pit, most other balls it would have been the same old night.

In warmup the Storm Agent and the Rotogrip Horizon were very erractic in what they rolled like, i had 1 roll in warmup with Kong. I thought well it rolled true so at least i can move off this reaction, good guess on my part. Next week is sweeper's i am sure i will have more double partner's now that i rolled the best set shot there in a few weeks. 800's are not the norm there, in fact 700's are not even the common numbers. Dave Wodka averages about 232 on a different night but 2nd shift, he was on PBA national tour for over 10 years i think he has 2 800's there this year.

I am not comparing myself to Wodka just saying i am an average bowler that with the right ball in my hand can score with the big boys once in awhile. I will report back good or bad if this was a fluke, but i am sure there are many more good games to come in it.
