What do you think of the Yeah Baby?

I've been wanting to try that ball for so long, I think i'm finally going to pick one up. But was curious what everyone else thought of it first.

However you drill it, if you stick with the out-of-the-box finish, make sure you have enough head oil and you either throw it fast enough or stand deep enough. If you move on to finer grit surfaces or you start polishing it, it will work fine on medium oil. Stock, it's better on medium-heavy oil, for me.

I have a feeling if I could find enough oil to use it on a regular basis, it would replace my New Standard as my favorite Legends ball. I think I like it better than the World Class only because I am more comfortable with it.

With the terminator coming better get it soon, i have one and you will need oil for it as charlest said. Best overall legends ball for me is the big kahuna which i have 2 of them, 1 polished and 1 box they roll totally different and are great on anything in the medium oil range.

Kong for lighter patterns is my favorite choice i am picking up a second one soon, i think legends is going to be weeding out older models soon.

My opinion is the following will be going soon:

Yeah Baby
Big Kahuna
Kong
guaranteed good ball but not flood ball as advertised

The AP2 is the only legends ball i do not have, i had a satisfaxtion got rid of it quick kind of a kind of let down ball for me.

I'm just looking to try a Lanemasters ball and am having a little trouble deciding what to drill. I have no real preference on what reaction and it doesnt matter where on the lane I'll be playing(most of the conditions I see are medium oil, house shots and sport shots). I just want one that will get some use. I know i'll have to adjust the surface on the YB if I drill one which is fine with me, I was also looking at the Big Kahuna since they seem to be similar in reaction. I was also looking at the Masterpiece.

Just having a hard time making up my mind on the first, even though if I like it i'll end up with all 3 anyway.

I have my YB with a label drilling. i hate the reaction with this lay out, its way too sensitive. However this is a great ball, ive thrown it with different layouts and its worked fine. This layout just doesnt fit my style, or im not using it with enough oil.

Ive found the Big Kahuna is a great heavy oil ball and need less head oil than the YB to work properly. They also have a very similar reactions. Id suggest going with the BK because the YB needs A LOT of oil in the heads where the BK doesnt.

I bought one not long after it was initially released (couple season ago now?).  I drilled it stacked leverage with a small weight hole...  I wasn't really impressed with the ball.  If I remember correctly, it needed some help on the backend to make the corner, which is almost never the case with me.  I guess maybe it wasn't the ball for me.  Since that time, I have heard others like the yb.  I hadn't played with a L/L ball until a couple months ago when I customer ordered a Big Bang.  He was a lefty spinner having trouble getting anything to react in oil.  He absolutely loves the ball.

If I can venture a guess: I suspect you might have drilled it too strong or are just not using it in/on enough oil. They only "need help" when they've burned up in the mids. The YB is a big hooking, oil-loving ball.

When I originally got mine, I drilled it the same as my NS to compare them. I wound up needing to stand 10 boards (yep, a full 10!) deeper with my feet, playing the same breakpoint, solely in order not to leave weak 10 pins.

The YB needs oil and room to hook. My NS and YB are drilled label, 4" x5" with CG in grip center.

That's what everyone had told me, and maybe it was the case...  but I threw it on the same conditions (both synthetics and wood lanes with lots of oil up front) that I had previously been throwing a polsihed up SCB.  I figured that if the scb didn't burn up, the yeah baby wasn't buring up either.  I even had our other proshop guy who spins the ball throw it... and he had similar results.  I had even polished the ball up and didn't see much difference in reaction.

It actually reminded me of a phenom unleashed I had bought.  No matter what I tried (drilled it differently a couple times and tried just about every surface), I just couldn't get the ball to do anything...  With as many balls as I have ever owned, those two (and an Apex Intensity) were the only balls that I just couldn't seem to get anything resembling a reaction from...

Polished SCB vs 800 grit Yeah Baby!
YB requires more oil is my strong inclination.

did you buy it used?

It's not the ball. The ball is a "Mover"!
See my NS/YB comparison above.

Plus it most definitely should NOT be drilled stacked leverage. Believe me!
