What Legends ball to switch too when lanes
« on: November 04, 2006, 01:25:39 AM »
break down.  Currently I'm throwing a World Class, (my first Legends ball), and was wondering which Legends ball would compliment it when the lanes break down, or the condition is drier.  Satisfaction, Masterpiece, Big Kahuna??

I'm a stroker, my World Class is currently drilled label leverage, and play straight up in the 8-10 range.  The condition is a medium (sometimes slightly medium heavy) on old wood lanes.  My intention would probably to do another label leverage drill, and let the coverstock make all the difference.

Thanks, I'm using the particle.  As much as the lanes breakdown, I'd be afraid the reactive would still be too strong, but I'm not an expert either.

jd1319,

Once a particle goes too early, a reactive is always a safe bet. Since none of L/LM's reactives are mild, almost any one would probably work depending on the lane surface, oil pattern and your hand. Since you're a stroker, It's hard to be a value judgement this far removed from watching your transition, but I'd guess that one of the stronger resins like the World Class Reactive or the Masterpiece might be ever so slightly safer than the Buzz, which is supposed to be one of the "weaker" Lm/L resins. (I Put quotes on that 'weaker', because none of them are weak.)

Actually if you can get holds of one, the Kong is also a candidate, even though it's a particle. My experience and a friend's (which closely shadowed mine) indicates that the Kong is great for medium-light oil patterns. (I just drilled a 16 lb one and used it Thursday night - still a wonderful ball; carried my a** the 2nd game, shooting 264 on a difficult transition.)

Thanks, I'll definately keep that in mind.  Just out of curiosity, how would you rate the Straight Flush compared to those other two?  As everybody moves left, I thought a ball that would make me go right and find an area to myself in the 3rd game might be another way go.  I've shot high 6's with plastic before, but the hit is very unreliable, and thought the straight flush might be another tactic to consider.

The Straight Flush is not, for me, one or two steps down from the particles. It is 4+ steps downward. It is barely one step above a polyester ball. It is an alternative to a plastic ball, but not a go-to when the WC (particle) is hooking too early.

I concur with Jeff (Charlest) on this ... the KONG or the BUZZ could work for what you are asking; regarding the Straight Flush, it for "fried" conditions and is, as Jeff stated, steps below the conditions that you are asking to change from.

thanks guys, I'm going to have a reactive plugged and redrilled, but really feel for my overall game, the reactives you've mentioned might be the best way to ago.  The plug and redrill is just a cheap quick fix.  $30 instead of $200, but will probably go ahead and spend the money at some point.

I have a Masterpiece, pin 1 inch under ring finger with the CG stacked directly below that is very controllable whens the lanes break down.
