Satisfaxion drilling question...
« on: November 05, 2006, 07:15:33 AM »
I just landed a NIB one Ebay for a $100, which leads to now wonder how I should drill it.  From another topic, I have a World Class drilled Label Leverage.  By the 3rd game, as the lanes breakdown and dry out, I have to make some large moves to keep it in the oil, and get out of my comfort zones, reducing my accuracy significantly.  Would drilling the Satisfaction Label leverage allow me to stay in the same area on the broken down conditions?  The weaker cover stock with the same drill I'm guessing would keep me where I prefer to be.

I'm a stroker who normally plays up 9 for the first game, 10 for the 2nd, but for the 3rd game, it's not unusual for me to have to jump to say the 15, and my accuracy suffers.  I'm working on improving that, but also figure the ball would be a better choice when I face drier conditions anyway.  Thanks

I'd guess you were in luck. While the Satisfaxion is not as strong as the WC-R or the BB-R (or is it BRB - Big Reactive Bang), it is still a strong even reacting (much like the World Class particle is even reacting) resin.

No one can guarantee that

I'd guess that it can keep you in the same general area, for probably the third game. Probably not the 2nd game.
As a stroker, you might want to kick the CG out a little, say about an inch or more, not quite a stacked drill. Kick it out as much as your driller says you can without needing a weight hole. That way, if you MIGHT need a flare increasing weight hole, you still have that option open to you.

Depending on your PAP, and track height (how close to the holes it is), try to keep the pin below the level of the bridge area.

(NOTE: These are best guesses, because you don't indicate PAP or ball speed or tilt, which are some VERY important factors related to how to drill your ball.)

Thanks, I know nothing is guaranteed, just looking for a best guess as there is very little lanemaster/legends stuff in area, so I don't really have the opportunity to see the equipment in action.

I guess I'm not positive on how to determine the pap, but it's about 3 1/2 from the pin, 4 1/2 from the CG.  I'm high track, normally passing withing an inch of the finger and thumb with medium to medium slow speed.  Tilt, I'm not positive about, but I was thinking it was between 30-45 degrees.  I'm still trying to learn to understand drillings better, until last year I didn't really have the time I wanted to put into bowling, so I left a lot up to my driller.  This year I'm trying to better understand everything else so I can hopefully take the next step.

I actually didn't think I'd win the auction, if the guy who made a last second bid bid .57 more, he would have won.

Thanks for everything, I hoping I can better explain what I'm seeking to the driller.

jd,

check out the FAQ for tilt and rotation defintions. I doubt if you have 35-40 degrees of tilt; that would make you almost a full spinner.

Doh!  I've been trying to develop a cranker release unsuccessfully to have a B game instead of just the down and in, and I that was the tilt I was thinking of.  I believe I'm 90 degrees, normally my release has fingers at 3-3:30, thumb between 9-10:00.  Too much football today.

I spoke to Pat Duggan a few times last week and he told me that the SatisfaXion works VERY well for a specific bowler style/stats ... but I'll be darned if I can recall that info; he's a GREAT guy with LOTS of knowledge and experience. I'd give him a call or email him for his input too.
