What non-LM ball matches up closest with the Terminator?
« on: November 05, 2008, 05:23:04 PM »
With the PBA status of LM in doubt, and with my desire to completely embarass myself at a PBA regional in the not too distant future, I need to pick up a couple of non-LM ball so I can at least bowl.  (Unfortunately, I also need to buy new shoes )  Right now, the Terminator has become my goto ball on a variety of condition, including the shark, so what have most of you seen that might come close?  I've ordered a LevRg, just because I've never tried Morich, and got a good deal, but I really need to add a couple of others.  I'm just hoping someone here has found a good match for the Terminator.  (I'm crossing my fingers LM changes their mind, but knowing the PBA charges a rediculus amount, I'm not holding my breath either)

As always, thanks

I'm not sure if I have seen a ball that reacts quite like the Terminator. Of course, I haven't seen them all. Always surprising how a polished ball could handle so much oil, never have a big overall hook or a large backend and still smash the pins the way it does. I'm leaning towards the 900Global Break S75, (maybe the AMF Enkryption Code) or the Twisted Fury solid. These balls have that same kind of sneaky strongness that the Terminator has

The original LevRg is a very strong ball. It will hook more than a Terminator with its stock surface (1000 grit Abralon) but will handle more oil. You would need to change the surface to at least 2000 grit Abralon to bring it closer to the Terminator. I had one and had a hard time finding enough oil for it. Be careful with the drilling, as it has a very strong Mass Bias strength.

FYI I read here on Ballreviews, not sure who said it, that Lanemasters will be back "in" the PBA in January. So, just in case, don't get rid of those Lanemasters balls yet.

Thanks, I had no intention of switching to non-LM completely, it matches up really well with my game, I'm just in need of some options.  Thanks for the info on the LevRG, I'm in a Morich black hole, so I had no idea of what really to expect and the EZREV core struck me as something that might help my lack of revs.  I hope LM is PBA eligible again, but knowing what the PBA charges makes me fully understand why the would consider skipping it, specially since they don't have anybody on TV to promote their stuff.

thanks again

Good topic. I had the same thoughts as you.  I came to the conclusion that Columbia 300 is the closest match. Mostly symmetrical, just like LaneMasters. I hope LM rethinks their position with the PBA. IMHO they make the best stuff out their right now.
