World Class vs Terminator
« on: October 03, 2006, 06:00:40 AM »
My Question is, is the World Class a better Heavy oil ball than the Terminator?

Does the early roll, core and covertstock outperform the Terminator's polished specs on heavier, longer volumes of oil?
--------------------
Balls for this winter season:

Terminator - Stacked - Heavy to medium oil
Big Bang - Stacked - Medium oil
Buzz - 1:30 Label - Medium to light oil
XXXL - Stacked -  Spare ball

Big R Bang - Coming soon!

"HoG",
Just speaking for myself, the answer is YES !!! Of course the combination of the layout, coverstock finish, and the core make the difference for me; if these two balls had the same layout and were in their original NIB OOB condition, I'd speculate that the Terminator would be stronger ...
IMHO and my 2 cents ...

Both OOB....no contest, WC handles that pattern better.

golfnut, you use the World Class of long tough patterns, and heavy oil?

"HoG",
For me, the answer is yes; my WC revs earlier and still makes a nice backend turn to the pocket.

Here are the 4 balls I have that are supposed to handle heavy oil...

WC
BB
Terminator
Visionary AMB Centaur Particle

Of the L/LM balls I've found the BB and the WC to both handle heavier, longer oil better than the Terminator. You've got more revs than me (per your profile) so that may account for the differences that we see. In heavier, longer oil I reduce my ball speed and am able to use either the WC/BB; the Terminator justs skids and skids for me on those conditions. Keep in mind, all three L/LM balls are drilled stacked leverage and all have their OOB finish.

A side note: NOTHING hooks as much on a heavier pattern than the AMB Particle. Not a Super Carbide Bomb (which I've owned) or any of the L/LM balls are even close. Unless it's a true flood the ball is useless. It's that strong. The surface feels like a piece of sandpaper.

While I don't have a Terminator (yet) I just wanted to add my take on the WC Particle.  This is a medium oil, shorter pattern, cleaner backend type of ball for me.  If I bowl on longer patterns and sport shot patterns my WC will go and go and go.....  My Big Bang is my go-to ball when I see heavier/longer oil.  Where the WC will pick off the 3 pin the BB will roll up heavy and blast the rack.  Both have the same layout 4 1/4 x 3 1/4, 60 degree and are oob.

We had some problem with the oiling machine last week and it put down a much heavier shot with very weak backends.  I had to point the WC and it tightened up my swing where with the BB I still had to square up but it had that extra on the back 9and some forgiveness to the right) where my swing was able to loosen up and I had a much better look and better carry.

Normally for my first shift league I am able to start out with the BB and by the third game I can switch to the WC.

Good points and all solid; remember, for ME and my balls, I have "tweaked" the covers and the some have weightholes; see below:

World Class: 3 oz TW, 3" pin "in" the ring, cg stacked, 4000 abralon

 Terminator: 3 oz TW, 3 1/4" pin, 3 1/2 x 3 1/4 layout,
4000 abralon & polished, no WH

Big Bang: 3 oz TW, 2 7/8" pin "stacked leverage",
pin above and to the right of the ring, cg 3/8" above ML,
             4000 abralon & polished,
21/32" WH on ML (1/4" past VAL & 2" deep)
