LANE MASTERS: WORLD CLASS
THE MAGAZINE REVIEW
51 Hook 14 Length 16 Breakpoint Shape
Core Design: Lane Masters takes pride in the symmetrical nature of all of its core designs. It prefers the roll predictability and layout simplicity provided by this shape. The RG level is 2.57, which creates some early lope, plus faster down-lane revs. The .035 Diff displayed about 4†of track flare.
Coverstock: The particle pearl cover is a breathtaking burgundy and red mix. The finish is 1000 sanded with a sheen finish. We found this cover/finish combo matches up very well on medium to heavy volumes, dependant on bowler rev rate and ball speed. Response time off friction is quick with factory finish.
Manufacturer's Intent: “This Particle Pearl is the third release in the World Class series," says Galen Gentry of Lane Masters' design team. "We feel the particle pearl cover, tied in with this medium differential core, gives this ball a clean start with a strong but controlled recovery. This combination has just enough midlane to level off the pattern very nicely, making this ball the most versatile of the three."
Test Results: As with many particle pearl covers, we matched up very well with an expansive range of lane conditions. The World Class Particle Pearl is aggressive yet controllable on many types of lane conditions. We were able to swing it and bring it on our House "chinas," but we could also play up the boards on certain PBA patterns with higher volumes. The higher RG (2.57) and lower flare potential (4â€) lessens hook-out, which plagues many particles, providing the end game most bowlers love to see. When compared to the Sting and Sure Strike, this piece fits neatly between the two, at least on our test patterns. We saw almost no deflection from angles between the first and fourth arrows, for both our tweener and stroker testers.
When to Use: We found many uses for this beauty, from light mediums for firm speed lower rev players, to heavy volumes for those with enough revs or slower speeds. Bowlers looking for versatility with an impressive angular breakpoint shape will undoubtedly enjoy what the World Class Particle Pearl offers. Dulling the surface gave us a look more similar to that of the Sting, which picks up the roll sooner and reads more in the midlane. Overall, this is one of our favorite particle pearls tested this year, due to its balance of control and carry power.
