Big-R Bang Tomorrow!
« on: February 15, 2007, 08:17:55 AM »
So tomorrow im going to punch out my Big-R Bang. I have not seen the ball nor do i know pin length or specs because it was sent right to the shop.

Anywho...i still cant decide how to drill her up. I could go with another drilling to compliment my arsenal, or i could just drill it to preform and not care about ball overlap.

I was pondering a couple of drillings. I was thinking of either 4x3 pin up, 5x4 pin down, 4 1/2 x 3 pin up, 3 3/8 x 3 3/8 stacked, or possibly 4 inch pin with the CG bumped out at 60 degrees.

I know that all of these drillings kinda do different things, but they are all differnt from what i got. I consulted with Jeff Usery about a specific drill pattern, and he mentioned that another weaker layout like i have on my Whirl Wind would be a good idea, so im thinking of pin between and over fingers with CG stacked below (becomes like a 5x5 drill). Any suggestions would be great. Right now im scoring super high with my whirl wind with the 5x5 and im thinking of either sticking with that modifying to the drills above.

See I have the same problem with figuring out which drill I am going to want, and that fact that my driller doesn't believe in fancy PAP drillingsa and such doesn't help. But I made him figure out mine, so I am good now. Thats besides the point.

I have heard around here that the Big R BAng is amean ball, and is alot stronger than it was meant to be. I would say you should go with 4X5 or 5X5, because this ball is still going to be good amount stronger than your whirl wind, in my opinion. That is just my 2 cents. Your still going to have a pretty strong ball with that layout.

I thought my Hammers hit hard, until I whipped a LM/L ball into the pocket. WOW!

Mine's at 3 x 3 1/2 and too strong (see profile for more info on it); anyway ... strong cover and the Big Bang core, so I'd drill a strong ball with a weaker layout, so that 5x5 sounds decent to me FWIW.

Im sorry to say that im going to have to wait a little while longer to drill up my very first Lanemasters/Legends bowling ball.

First off i was supposed to be shipped a Big-R Bang in 15 lbs. WHen i looked at the shipping box, the invoice said a 15lb Buzz, which was fine i couldnt care one way or another.

When i opened the shipping box i see that they sent the Big-R Bang all right, but it was a 14lber. The ball looked great, and it had perfect numbers and the exact pin length that i wanted. O well.

We called up lanemasters to tell them the situation and they were supposed to call back within the hour, and they didnt. So i hope to hear from them at work today so this issue can be resolved and so that i can drill up my first ever Lanemasters/Legends ball.

BowlerkidR, I had the same problem with a 14 World Class that I got for my son.  I was supposed to get a 14 lb, but they shipped a 15 lb by mistake.  They got it straighted out, but it took a 5 extra days to get the ball we wanted.

I just wanna get it straightened out. Im kinda hoping we can just take the ball to a distributor and switch it out
