Author Topic: Update on my Black Diamond (Read 1684 times)

Pin above/right of ring, cg on ML, wh below ML and inside my VAL

Tried it OOB(Factory Polished) and got too much "push" and not enough movement on the backends ... hit the cover with a burgundy to knock the shine off, then a gray pad and finished with a white scotchbrite pad with this adjustment I still got sufficient push through the heads and midlanes AND got a STRONG backend reaction, just shy of "skid/flip", but very angular. The Black Diamond emblem shows up during the roll and helps to get "read" on the ball''s reaction as the ball is otherwise totally black.
With this coverstock, this BD can handle more oil than anything else currently in my arsenal.

... remembering NOW why I didn''t care for the NS2, and this ball has the same core and similar coverstock (medium-load particle) as the NS2 ...

I MAY try some different coverstock adjustments on it, but I''m starting to think that the "BD" and I just don''t match up ... only about 3 games total on it so far, but ...

... it doesn''t even go inside with me on league nights.

Sorry to hear that! My Black Diamond is my 1st choice at my heavy oil house. I also have the Terminator, Terminator Rebellion, Buzz Attack, as well as the Xtreme Damage. Maybe the drill doesn't match your game...

Robb,

You drilled these balls far too strong. I'd suggest trying some different drill patterns tomake the ball more friendly towards your release and the oil pattern on which you're using them.

Although the NS2 and NS have a similar core, due to the cover difference I was able to drill the NS both strong (4" and below the ring and 5" and above), while I was only really able to drill the NS2 weak (5" and above the ring finger).

The Black Pearl I also drilled too strong and it was too over under for me.

I'd suggest a 5" pin to PAP and under the bridge area, as one potential alternate drilling for you, for this Black Diamond.

i totally agree. i love my black pearl but i ended up getting one with high top weight and a long pin which forced me to drill it pin down with a weight hole down my val. WAY too strong of a drill! ball needs juuuust the right amount of oil and length to make it useable. wish i had another one to try out!

I agree with charlest. The BPR that I bought from you with its 5.5 pin to PAP which is a weak drill. This ball with that drill still flares every bit of 5 icnhes. Other equipment that I have drilled that far from my PAP might flare 3 inches of tight flare lines.

This core isn't flashy like some other brands of high tech cores, but it is vry strong and shows a very high flare potential. I couldnt imagine me drilling it like 4 or 4.5 from PAP, it would just flare all the way around ther ball rendering it highly condition specific. Any more Black series balls I buy I am not goign any closer than 5.25 from PAP to keep that from happening.

I feel it probably was drilled a little to strong, take it to 5.5 or 5 and see what it does for you.
