why your your conter strike such a dud?
« on: October 19, 2009, 02:36:51 AM »
i bought this ball used probably a year ago. it had the pin next to ring finger and cg kick out right with a weight hole down below the center grip line. this has always been a horrible drill layout for me. im a low track player with a good amount of revs but only throw the ball about 15mph. ball would hook too early and roll out. even with higher grit and polish. i really didnt give this ball a fair chance i guess but at the time hearing all the people that were disappointed with it didnt make me wanna waste the money plugging it and trying a different layout. anyone have any luck with this ball?

Been there and done that ... I''ve bought many used and reused the existing layout, BUT the key here is your own words (above)

The CS is a strong and fairly even rolling ball. Unless you have a lot of tilt or side rotation, that drilling is certain death for the CS. I have mine pin above the ring finger and CG stacked below, roughly a 5x4 drill. I added a little polish and the ball is strong on mediums, maybe medium+ and any wet/drys. On lighter mediums, if you have enough head oil, the ball will hook a lot more than originally intended.

The particle load is on the rough side (intended for a high level of conrol and its purpose: to even out wet/drys), so for a slower play like yourself and myself, a little polish will also work wonders. But first I'd strongly urge you to redrill it, with a high pin.

Don't go grazy with the polish. Try a little at a time, til it gets you where you want to be.

i traded the ball long ago. just wondering if i ran across another one should i give it another try. probably would just be another ball to just sit on the shelf just to say i have it.

Clearly, the ball needs to be disposed of. I will send you the mailing address for Shelley's A-1 Ball Disposal, Inc., and we'll make sure the ball never falls into another's hands.
