April 22, 2012:  Purchased the Exodus Pearl, it obviously has some length drilled the way I have it (55* X 4-3/4" X 40*, 3-3/4" PIN ABOVE BRIDGE, NO WH, CG 1" RT OF CL ON MIDLINE).  The Exodus Pearl has a surprising amount of backend, something I usually do not see in Pearls due to my release-type, longer Pin to PAP’s for me have a tendency to skid too far and are unsatisfactory on most lane conditions with the extreme dry/medium-dry being the only true pattern I find success on.  I was playing around 8-9 at the 40' down lane range finders and 12-13 at the arrows, standing 20 with my feet.  The Exodus Pearl had really good carry and was very easy to get to the pocket.

Likes:  The ball is excellent for medium patterns and gets a lot of length.

Report:
After talking to LF Rep Tony Martin, i decided to lay this ball out with one of my favorite layouts. Something that would be very predictable that is not too weak and not too strong. On the fresh, this ball was a little up and down. The ball would be clean up front and too strong on the back due to the stripped backends. As the oil pushed down lane the backend motion was more controllable. I was able to play up 6, 7, and 8 as long as i kept my launch angles striaight and tight. If i missed a little left it would hook and if i missed right a touch it looked like it fell off a cliff by leaving the rail or three off the right. I completely understand how this pattern can be frustrating depending how one thinks. The key is to be patient and not try to open the lane up right away because the ball is hooking a ton off the fresh backs. It's one of those patterns you have to keep the ball in play and let the lane settle before you make any big moves. I was throwing my Exodus solid side by side with my Pearl. The Solid would have a strong midlane and a sweet continuous arching backend while the Pearl would be cleaner up front and stronger on the back. The big difference though is when the oil carried down lane and the heads started to burn. I saw that the Pearl struggled to turn the corner while the Solid was a little more forgiving. I know surface adjustment would solve the issue but i didn't try it since i just drilled this ball before i bowled on this pattern. I see the Pearl being versatile for all sorts of styles and games where you can drill it strong or weak due to the mid RG and low diff. I think i will probably drill one or two more.

This ball is very good when I need to play up the boards or on a shot with dry outsides. I can play comfortably around 10 all night and not have to move much more than a board. It doesn’t get an overreaction if I miss right and holds if I miss left.  A bit speed sensitive if I get too quick with my feet, but overall I would rate this ball highly and definitely my go to when the lanes are dry.   
I have thought about roughing up the surface a bit to give it an ealier read of the lane and cover a few more boards. Overall, I would rate this ball a strong contender for lanes late in tournament play.

COMMENTS

Likes:  Drilling is pin high, in a long and strong layout.  Ball easily gets down the lane, and reacts consistently off of the friction.  Not a jumpy reaction, but a controlled strong reaction.  Once it finds the friction, it reacts and does not stop !  My home house tends to burn up pretty quickly, and this ball is the second one of my bag.  Gets down the lane, with tons of stored energy to carry a lot of strikes.  A must have to any arsenal !!
