Building Arsenal
« on: February 17, 2014, 11:04:15 PM »
I am wanting to build a 3 ball arsenal for now. I have a Get Some and want something above and below. I am looking at the Big Hurt or Korrupt and the Off the Chain or Bad News. Any helpful information is appreciated.

Thanks
Steve

How is your Get Some laid out? All of the feedback I've been hearing is that the Get Some is extremely agressive but I've not drilled one myself. I can say the Terminator Juggernaut is very aggressive. I have mine set up Rico and it needs a good deal of oil to be playable. As for something below the get some, the Bad News is one of my two favorite balls at the moment along with the XDP. I'd say the Bad News is a tad more versatile as it can handle more oil and won't leave such a gap below the Get Some. The original Judgment is also an excellnt ball but would leave you short on the lighter end of the spectrum if you're looking for something more aggressive than the Get Some.

My Get Some is 3 3/8 stacked. I'm looking for something with a little more surface than the Get Some.

For me personally the Korrupt was stronger than the Big Hurt. I absolutely love the Big Hurt but I wouldn't consider it a ball for the flood. With the Korrupt, I went pin over bridge and CG out, not sure the exact layout and I've since gotten rid of it simply because I wasn't seeing enough oil for it. Now, if you're looking for a ball to cover a lot of boards, this isn't the answer, but it's an aggressive core/cover combo that will start up early and give you an arc shape. The caveat is that this ball needs oil up front even with a pin up layout to be playable in the box finish. I didn't alter the surface on mine because the bad news fit perfectly below the Korrupt but I can't compare either to the Get Some. With the Get Some as the middle ball in a line-up my fear is that you're going to leave yourself thin on the lighter side of the arsenal. Have you considered adding surface to the Get Some to get the reaction you're looking for and drilling two balls to fit below it?

I've thought about it and I think adding surface to the get some is what I am going to do. I for sure want the bad news.

If you go with the Get Some with surface and a Bad News, I'd recommend the Xtreme Damage Platinum to fit under the Bad News. These two balls are a great 1-2 combo for me right now and I haven't needed to pull anything else out of the bag in quiet some time.

I've been throwing the Bad News for a couple of weeks now and absolutely love it. It's the first ball out of the bag. I've even had a couple a guys I bowl with tell me how much they like it. Thanks for the advice.
