The Big Hurt is clean for a ball with surface but reads the midlane pretty quick with good continuation. Layout would depend on what you need this ball for. You can drill it with a high response layout and polish it and you would have a great ball for the deep inside line. You can use an early roll layout and box 2000 surface and have a very good oil ball. Bottom line is this ball is very versatile so just decide where you want it in your arsenal and go for it.

Clee,

Where are you looking to fit this into your arsenal? That will likely lead to the most accurate suggestions as well details about how you throw the ball, PAP, ball speed, etc.

For me, I was looking for something to start up earlier than the Korrupt, so I went with a pin under layout while my Korrupt and Judgement are both pin up. Being pin down, I get an earlier read than either of those balls, with a little pop on the backend. I've noticed in OOB condition, I definitely need oil up front and in the mids but once I have that, I have an extremely controllable reaction. For me the Big Hurt doesn't cover a ton of boards, but the control on longer and heavier patterns is unmatched. I've found a lot of success controlling over/under and specifically on the USBC White pattern.
