Kelsey is from here in Topeka, been watching her grow and get better and WORK since she was 12 or 13, used to drill her equipment.  This is her senior year at WSU, she was on Jr Team USA last year or the year before, and won an international tournament overseas on a team with Danielle McEwan.  The amount of work and effort she put in and the amount of support from her parents is really responsible, and although this town really did nothing to help her out (she fought and clawed and begged for everything she got), she's been very successful.  After she graduates she's continuing on to nursing school.  The best part about it is she isn't privileged, she didn't have anything handed to her, she had to travel to tournaments and although she was fortunate to have some great coaches and very knowledgeable minds in the area, she had to practically chase them down or be ready to go at the drop of a hat when they had a few minutes, and she did all this while also being an honor student.  If there's a model of how to do it right, she's it.  Very happy for her, proud to say I know her.

Glad to see hard work pay off.  It helps to know what direction a youth bowler wants to go at an early age.  In my area, most seem to want to fool around or they know everything already.  I know in some other countries, they start building winners in the early teens and are winners in the late teens.  (i.e. Jazzy, Tannya of Wichita State)

Nicely said. It is great to see the youth strive for greatness. I also love the fact that most of the youth today prefer to compete on sport patterns. While the adults want to be catered to.
I see this from the youth in my area. Also with talking to Bradley Crouse who was on JR Team USA last year. I have bowled a few tournaments with him and it is amazing the dedication they put in. Reminds me of how I was as a youth. Only, in my area tougher patterns were unheard of. Everything we bowled was always a house shot.
