Thanks

I've never really heard of anything like that.  There's SO many people there that it's highly unlikely that you'll be pitted against anybody you're with in a significant amount of brackets.  I usually go with 10 guys too and it's just every man for himself.
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?

All 10 bowlers get in the same amount of brackets.   Lets say 20 ($10 brackets) = $200 each.

Winning money is split 10 ways.    Whatever you get back over $200 would be your profit.

$2000 goes into brackets....If you won collectively $3,000 than everyone would get back $300 each for a $100 profit per bowler.

+1. That's how State/Nationals groups I've been with have done it.

We usually do shares, so if someone wants to gamble more than others shares are usually anywhere from $20-$50 bucks per.  So if you want to gamble $300 and I only want to do $100 then you should get three times the payout too if we do well.

Most of the good teams around here back a couple of bowlers. And generally put 2 to 3K per bowler in.

They pool their money and get in the maximum number of brackets available. Then each gets 1/5 of any money won.

If you are maxing out in brackets you will meet teammates quite often and maybe loose a lot of finals. They feel this gets maximum payback for the amount of money put in.

Our current process is: For every $100 invested in brackets you get 1 share of the prize pool. If you make a profit from your brackets you keep 50% of the profit and the remaining 50% goes into the (Prize Pool) which is then divided up between all participating team members based on how many shares each person has.

Example:

Bowler A - $500 invested (5 shares) wins $1800
$1800 - $500(investment) = $1300 profit x 50% = $650(keep) & $650 goes to prize pool

Bowler B - $400 invested (4 shares) wins $250
$250 - $400(investment) = $150 loss

Bowler C - $300 invested (3 shares) wins $750
$750 - $300(investment) = $450 profit x 50% = $225(keep) & $225 goes to prize pool

Bowler D - $700 invested (7 shares) wins $2600
$2600 - $700(investment) = $1900 profit x 50% = $950(keep) & $950 goes to prize pool

Prize Pool - $950 + $225 + $650 = $1825
$1825 / 19(total shares) = $96.05 per share

Bowler A - $96.05 x 5(shares) = $480.25(pool) + $650(keep) = $1130.25 Total Profit
Bowler B - $96.05 x 4(shares) = $384.20(pool) - $150(loss) = $234.20 Total Profit
Bowler C - $96.05 x 3(shares) = $288.15(pool) + $225(keep) = $513.15 Total Profit
Bowler D - $96.05 x 7(shares) = $672.35(pool) + $950(keep) = $1622.35 Total Profit

They way we've done it in the past is in team we put a dollar amount per person, say $200, and each person would get into 40 $5 brackets and at the end however many people got in, say 6 of 10, the monies at the end of team were split 6 ways. If someone wanted to get into additional brackets they would get into the $10 brackets and that money was theirs. Doubles and singles we didn't do a split.
For example last year we had 6 guys put up $300 each and each of us got back around $340.

This year for the first time I am on a team (only 5 guys, no companion team) that will corp. everything. Out main goal isn't individual its about the team. So we will all be putting up around 2000-3000 a man and will split it evenly. We will all get in the same number of everything that way we don't have to worry about brackets and just bowl.

We are bowling together as a team there is no reason to bowl against each other for a few extra dollars. Because then where are your intentions truly at?

Plus even if you and your team max out everything there are still way more brackets than your allowed to get in that your not going to catch all 8 guys on your team in 1 bracket.

We don't do this, although I wish we did, lol. Might help with people sticking to the plan better.

You may want to see if you can ask Riggs about this. I know they have a way of doing things and have vetted it with an accountant to make sure it is ok with the IRS as well.

That's a good thing to do as a team.the only problem is,the person who wins the most brackets gets stuck with the tax issue at the end of the year.
