Need ball suggestions . Low rpm, 15 mph for THS
« on: May 08, 2010, 11:04:53 AM »
a friend of mine just got his vehicle broken into , and yes, got all 3 of his bowling balls taken ( black onyx vibe, freeze, older pirahna-c )  So he throws about 15 ish mph, and has a pretty low rev rate.. Hes a tweener , covers about 10 boards or so..

Hes been looking at virtual Energys, 3.5 c systems etc.. Lots of hi end stuff for heavy oil.. I suggested  a mission, ( if he wanted that top of the line easIER to control ball )  but told him that with his ball speed and around 220ish  revs im guessing, A Hyroad, a cell pearl , nomad ( solid or pearl ) reign of fire etc.. Luckily my friend is giving him an undrilled freeze , so he doesnt want anything like that .. But from what ive seen so far.. even the freeze was o much for him..  But heres I think why he wants a big expensive ball, Is because they do have a better core, and will hit harder under some conditions..

Even when hes squared up and crushes the pocket , there really isnt a ton of pin action.. So what do you guys think ?

Have him try a Columbia Full Swing. Ball now is on close-out, and with correct layout, and polish will work well for him.

I think Hyroad or a Rogue cell will work! For a house shot.

but if hes throwing the freeze right now and even thats coming up hi on him after a few games , I could only imagine what a VE, full swing, rogue  would do, all being much more aggressive

Columbia 300 claims The Bedlam is a tweeners dream. Its a good ball for about $120.

yea but I hear the freeze has the same cover as the bedlam..

Anyone think an evil siege ? Im just trying to think of something less or more aggressive than the freeze that would give him  more of a drive thru the pins.. Cuz his speed or revs just arent doing it

I'd categorize 220 RPMs as a stroker, NOT a tweener.

That said, if he's got a ball that's long and strong (Freeze), get him something that's rolly and not long and strong.  I'd suggest something from Brunswick, the Reign of Fire, or Nomad Solid.  In the 100-130 price range.

Thats EXACTLY what I was ttrying to tell him .. Drill for a little more roll instead of backend.. But for some reason hes got pin up in his head..  The problem is ( he just told me tonight ) that he is going to throw summer leagues 2 handed.. :sigh:

So His revs will go up as well as ball speed a bit.. NOW he still wants a big curve or VE, even a mission.. But now being 2 handed, everything is getting messed up .. Ill try to have him send me a vid

Didn't know the bedlam had the momentum cover like the freeze does.

High end balls dont have "better cores" nor do they hit harder

If a freeze is to much why would you put him in a evil siege full swing virtual energy etc.

First I would like to know his pap and how his freeze is drilled. But id most likely get a slingshot with 3-4 pin. Drill it rico or 5x4
