*jedi mind trick*.....You will reply to my post....
« on: February 15, 2004, 05:58:30 AM »
Ok, below is a pic of my diesel particle ball.  I bowl on a medium oil/pattern reverse block.  I can change my release, from a 16 mph stroker, to a 18 mph power tweener with high revs.  Now, I'm also a high tracker with  a lot of axis rotation.  My question is, based off the pic, what is the current layout doing for my shot, and what would be the best layout for my style and stats?  BTW, I'll change the X-hole since it's not for me anyways, so I don't know how much that will do.

Yes, even ask BK, he bowls here too (see the post about "your house pattern").  It's odd...maybe I just don't know enought about layouts, but if the pin is above the fingers, it's supposed to be a little more snappy....but with this ball it just arcs, no noticebale backend...I suppose the particle over powers the drill...

But anyways, yes, it is, i've tried playing to out 5, just to see the ball come in light.  The middle of the lane is easier to play, but with the urethane style arch, I just don't get much entry angle.

Nevertheless, so what you are saying is that the layout is alright for my style?  Because, I can throw the same line with my SmashR, and I know this ball should definatlely out hook that thing.  I picked this ball up used, it could be that it's not in box anymore, but I don't know.

Yea Im 50% retarded, that is why I never noticed this before. Its just a weak drilling for you. Its above the fingers, yes, but also way off to the right.

That picture is kind of misleading, the angle and all, and it doesn't really show how huge that frickin weight hole is...

But anyways, in general, are there any kinds of layouts that cater to my style (I prefer to use the power tweener shot), you know, like a stacked leverage, or a 4x4, etc.?

And King, how is it that your sig always seems like it could actually be the last line in your post?  Odd.

I THINK a pin over fingers kinda drilling would be ok for u, but I have to watch u bowl and actually pay attention lol

Think I should go with stacked or label?  I'm still not sure of the difference.  Also, I heard that high trackers should have pins over the fingers.

This is a extremely early rolling drill.  If you want it to have more backend then you need to drill it with the pin around the fingers.  However, this isn't entirely a bad thing, drillings like this control the backend which keeps you out of trouble.

Yeah, that sounds like it.  It tries to hook as soon as it hits the lane, so it just arches.  Now burning up, I don't know, I'll have to watch that.

What is the difference between stacked and label?  I've never quite figured that out...

a stacked leverage drilling puts both the pin and the CG 3 3/8 inches from your positive axis point (PAP).  label leverage puts the pin at 3 3/8 inches and the cg in your palm (around 5 to 5 1/2 inches).

take a look at this link for alot of ball drilling terms and basics:

In MHO I agree with BK, the pin seems WAYYYYYYY to far right, thus it is tooooo close to your PAP, and so does the CG seem wayyy toooo close.

Pin above the finger will make the ball go longer, while below shorter; CG away from PAP means earlier roll/more break.  Just from my layman's view, that layout is toooo weak.
