BACKEND REACTION OF ULTIMATE INFERNO???
« on: March 26, 2005, 06:00:32 AM »
I just bowled with it for the first time today, and i was a little puzzled about the pin action. It rolls perfectly and finds the pocket no matter what line but the backend is just not there??? Why do you think this is happening?? You think its burning up on dry lanes before it hits the pins? Right now its 800 grit, I think if I polished it to 1200 or so that might help.

Well for one thing, it's not supposed to have a big backend.  It's supposed to roll heavy and smooth, in heavy oil.  Polishing will help, but if bought it, thinking it'd have a huge backend movement you'll be disappointed.

Mine is drilled for a hard backend reaction ( pin up above ring finger, cg out positive with a weighthole on the val by the thumb) and I shined it up.

Polishing it gave it more length and more baclend, but this ball is strong and still likes to read the pattern early unless you have a TON of oil.

Yes, changing to a smoother finish will help some, but this ball was meant for oil and wants to burn early unless oil is present in decent amounts.
