1 Ball or 2?
« on: October 07, 2005, 06:11:54 AM »
Hello Bowlers,

First time here, and I spent many hours reading posts about balls and lane conditions. My question is, I am throwing a 15# Lane #1 Cherry Bomb. I play on medium oil (mostly) conditions, with medium ball speed. The Cherry Bomb works well sometimes. Lately, I been noticing that I am not hitting the pocket as hard as i would like and with that, I am leaving the 10 pin, and an occasional 7 - 10 split, argggg. So, I was wondering how many of you would consider getting a second ball? If so, what would you recommend with more hooking power on the back end? I was told of the Hammer Hawg, EPX-T1, or the Absolute Inferno. I want the ball to roll longer maybe and hook with more power.

Thank you

JeffG

You don't need a new ball . Learn how to adjust to the conditions. A change in finger positions or hand positions can give you that extra bite you feel you need. Check into a coach also.

Its a THS. I can go to any house in the world and bowl with my Columbia Reaction Rev and make it work. If its not a sport shot I'm sure the ball can be used on the condition without going out and buying new balls and then realizing that the ball is not the problem but its in his game. Before you try and throw jabs get it together. Apparently by the question he posed he's not the best of bowlers and would by far benefit more from a coach and not a new ball. Thanks, Rudy Kasimakis!

If you're looking for a ball that will "roll longer maybe and hook with more power", then the EPX, Hawg, and AI are not what you're looking for. They all have a good bit of mid-lane reaction. Sounds like you're looking for a ball that does a "skid-snap" reaction. Look at something like the Columbia Backyard Bully or the Track Arsenal Reactive. Storm Fired Up is good too for that type of reaction. You could always buy a dull, heavy-oil ball and polish it for the same reaction. Something like a Track Rule GP2 or a Storm Trifecta with a nice polishing would be nice. Hope this helps.
