Megabuck Tourneys My Experience & Journal
« on: October 07, 2005, 08:58:23 AM »
HI everyone,

Thought I might share with you my upcoming experience at the Megabuck tourneys during Superbowl weekend.
I am most definitely going to give the True Amateur Tournament (TAT) another try and maybe a squad at the Mini-Eliminator.
I am unsure about the High Roller (pricier), but would want to check out all the top amateurs bowling the High Roller.

This past February I bowled the TAT and it was my first Megabuck tournament of any kind. I met a bunch of great bowlers from around the U.S. and other countries (Australia, Germany, Etc.) I crossed with a former Junior Team U.S.A. bowler named Jeff Mersch from Florida. I also crossed with an awesome Senior Bowler named Ken Anderson from St. Louis (Fenton), Missouri. Found out from another bowler that he was 2nd or 3rd in all events at the 2004 ABC Nationals! The megabuck tournaments was an experience I'll never forget.

I learned a lot of lessons. My first tournament, I came in with an Arsenal that didn't make sense and overlapped. I met Dave Wodka at one of the Demo Days and he was kind enough to chat with me, check out my game and took the time to lay out the free balls that came with our entry (Xcel Particle & Game Time). Not to mention PBA Bowler Joe Salvemini was in the Pro Shop drilling my ball and countless # of others. Helpful guy that Joe is.

The Megabucks were more than I expected. Even though I didn't make the cut after 3 tries, I made a lot of friends, crossed with some great bowlers and was treated well. The best part about the Megabucks is the camraderie. Everyone is there for one reason, and that is the love of the game & competition. (well, the money too!). I think I spent more time watching other bowlers than concentrating on my own game hehe.

In February 2006 I am planning to bowl the TAT with a good friend of mine and maybe a squad or sweeper at the Mini-Eliminator with a friend of mine. For those of you who haven't bowled a Megabuck Tourney, I will try and attempt to write in a journal and report to you all at BR on a daily basis.
I hope you guys will enjoy seeing the Megabucks through the eyes of a fellow BR Member...

February 5-12 here we come...
Regards,
Ramtart

Yeah Jeremy, nuts eh? Gonna make a vacation out of it. Gonna try and catch the Mini-Eliminator at The Orleans (possibly bowl a squad or sweeper) and watch the High Roller at Sam's Town.

Something tells me I'll be homesick after the 3rd day...wait I'm in Vegas...yeah right! JK
