Breaking out of a slump.
« on: December 18, 2003, 07:44:46 PM »
How does everybody treat breaking out of a slump?  Mine is officially over, and I'm glad.  It lasted from May-November although I did pop in a few nice scores along the way, got lucky a few weeks.  Now I feel my season has officially started, I'm bowling the way I expected to bowl when I came out of youth in April.  There's no turning back now, I have the new tools and knowledge I need to keep me on track.  So how do you all treat breaking out of a slump?  My average three weeks ago was 204 in both leagues, now it's 210 in both of them.  My Tuesday league has been 751-619-751, and my Wednesday league has been 718-683-704.

I realize it's dumb to throw out a half's worth of scores to prove a point to yourself, but including the tournament that really broke me out of the slump, I've averaged 233 right on the nose for my last 26 league games, and that average is between two houses.  26 games isn't a whole lot, and we'll have to see where it goes from here, but my thinking is that it can only get better.  I didn't even bowl super great on Wednesday and somehow put that 704 together.  It's the easiest house in the city, and I fully expect to have a ton of good nights there.  I believe I'm the only one (or one of the few) with two series' over 750 at the other house, it's pretty rough with carry most of the time.  Anyway, thanks for listening to my bragging or ranting or whatever you'd call it.  My confidence is sky high right now.  Instead of knowing I can win something but worrying about if my arm is going to cooperate, I know I can win something and fully expect to do it.

"Fishin reminds me of a girl I was with, we went down to the lake down 'ere.  She wanted to make love on a horse, and I'd never done it, so we did it, and I'm trying to keep my balance, and she's fallin' off, then the manager at the Wal-Mart came out and unplugged 'er there.  I didn't even want to make love on the horse, I wanted to do it on the rocket ship . ."
