What does your house give you?
« on: May 06, 2007, 10:20:48 AM »
Just wondering what houses do for honor scores?  The one house I bowl in gives 100 dollars for a 300 game, and a framed certificate for 300, 800, or 11 in a row.  Not sure if the other house I bowl in does anything or not, nothing for my 299 earlier this season.  I personally think the 100 dollars should go for 800 series instead of 300 games, but it's very generous of them nonetheless, and this is a house where a lot of honor scores are shot.  Kind of an old tradition they've kept up with, that I'm not sure many other houses do these days, and can't really blame them.  Who else gets money or anything else, and what are they.  Just interested.

Our house gives a pretty nice jacket for your first honor score, 700 series for men, 600 series for women, and the winner of the annual League Officers Championship Tournament.  They also add your photo to the wall of fame for any of those accomplishments.  I won the tournament jacket last August and wore it most of the winter.  Yeah, I'm a geek.  Managed to miss the photo shoot, so I've escaped getting my photo on the wall so far.

They also give a $100 pro shop certificate for a 300 game.  In addition, they give out lottery tickets for 7 strikes in a row for men and 5 strikes in a row for women, and a perfect league attendance award at the end of each winter season.

There's a ton of stuff in their League Bowler Rewards Program, but those are the most notable.

one house does nice jackets for your 300 or 800, the other house does 100$ for the first 300 and thats it

for the record, house with jackets, 5-7 300's this year (typical) and 1 800
other house that pays 100 for first 300, 0 300's and 0 800's this year

This depends on the house.  Where I bowl the first house had five or six 300 games and no 800 sets.  The other house had two 300 games and no 800 sets...so if and when you do shoot big scores in a tougher house, I feel the house should reward you for it.

During the 05-06 season, my current house gave us a changed shot after each time a 300 was bowled. SERIOUSLY!

my guess is that houses with a very small qunatity of 300's is a house ran by a bowler, for bowlers, not some corporate ran score fest like we see all over the place.  I shoot pretty decent in my two houses, but no 300 or 800 for me, I have traveled to other houses and practiced and shot lights out (yes 300's) and i look and see 50+ names on the wall for the current season of 300 shooters

The center my shop is in used to have a really nice banner made up with the bowlers name, score and date of accomplishment..the banner would hang over the lanes for a few months and when they took it down they gave it to the bowler as a memento...also there was a cash prize for 300 games and 800 series that went along with the banner.  Over the past 5-6 years honor scores have gotten ALOT more common than in the past so the center did away with this practice as between the cash and banner they were dropping $4-500 for every honor score that was shot.  Currently they list the bowlers on their websites "wall of fame" but that's about it.

Announcement as soon as it happens, and then name on the wall for the rest of the season.

The house in my home town...for the first 300...

get a choice of:
A) Jacket w/name and series on it
B) Free year of bowling (what I took )
C) Gift certificate to pro shop (I believe worth $50)

they also post the score on their website, and it will scroll for a while in on the bar's automated sign

the house i bowl leagues at used to give $100 savings bonds for shooting a 300 game or an 800 series. they stopped this about 8 years ago as they were becoming too common. up until two years ago they used to give out 300 game or 800 series jackets.

At one house we get a free drink ticket (3.50 max value); the other house puts your name on the overhead screen along with about 50 other names.
