11 in a row- then TURDBALL
« on: March 12, 2004, 12:15:38 AM »
Anyone ever seen or done this?  I had the first 11 then threw it like CRAP. missed my mark2 boards and no fingers. Left the 2-4-5 for a 297.

I feel like a real choker. I have three 300's, but the house was watching and I threw it like doodoo.

Why do we do this? I was cruising right along, then BAM, doodoo.

During a New Year's eve bowling party in Florida they had open bowling.

After getting the first 11, people started watching.  I threw it right through the nose for the greek church.  Left with a 295 game.  The lanes were dry and it was easy to get a split unless your speed was up.  I was using my scout urethane ball.

Bottom line is that I was glad it was open bowling.  Would have felt worse on a sanctioned league.

Were you bowling on lanes 25-26 at Valley Lanes in Beaverton?
A guy did exactly that last night.

In other words - you're not alone.

Nice bowling.

Don't feel bad. I threw the first 11 and on the 12 th, I consciously stand 2 boards left to give allowance should I pull the shot. I did not pull it and left a 2 4 5 7 8 for a 295. I've had 4 300's and have been there before.

That's OK!! I'm a junior bowler from Seattle WA and I went down to a junior tournament in Arizona and did that same exact thing. Front eleven, 2-4-5, 297. The best part about it was................ the game before I left a 2 pin in the first frame, spared it and went off the sheet......

MORAL............22 in a row and no perfecto!!!

don't make ya feel bad anymore does it??

Jab, don't feel alone.  Last night in my sanctioned league I also had the first 11, getting ready to throw my 12th ball and my team mate who had to much to drink steps on the approach, puts his arm around my neck and trys to be funny with everyone watching.  Next ball gets pulled, on the nose 6-7-10 for like you, 297.  I guess I was the one that threw the ball but his interruption didn't help.  Lesson learned, I need better focus. LOL.  I have a sanctioned 300 and 299 already this season but it would have been nice to get another 300.  Congrats on you honor score, good bowling.

so, whats the general opinion... do you tug, throw too hard, or let go high from grabbing..? i have a bad habit of going a board out from the mark, coming in a bit light. i can name at least three or four recent 6-8 baggers thru the 10th frame where i left a stone 10 of weebling 5 on the fill ball. how about you guys? i always hear most guys go thru the nose on the 12th ball. squeeze and tug? or are you like me and just calm yourself enough to release TOO smooth...

--------------------
i don't care who makes it, how much it costs, or how sexy the ball looks. can i carry the 7 and level the deck with a $60 ball?

That's ok two weeks ago i needed an 8 count on the fill ball to shoot 800, threw what i felt was a perfect shot and BEAK.  7 count 4-6-7.  lol.  oh well.  The same set the first game i go front ten and then overthrow it a little for a 10 pin, bad night altogether.

Bowled in our city tournament the last couple weeks.  A guy that is on my tuesday night team was bowling next to us with his brothers and nephew.  He has a lot of physical problems, but is a very good bowler when healthy.  First game he has the fron 11.  Last ball his knee gives out a little, and instead of stopping his approach, he goes on, and proceeds to knock it off his ankle straight into the ditch.

The very next game, his brother shoots his first sanctioned 300.  It was great listening to them 2 go back and forth

This one currently hits very close to home for me. I've had quite a few 300's. The past several years I was 12 for 12 when I had the front 11. This past year I've connected on 1 of the last 6 when I had front 11. The last 2 were particularly bad with me getting too much finger in it once, and 2 weeks later not enough. (see profile link).

The good news is that streaks always happen in bowling, hot or cold. In your case perhaps you'll be able to use this situation as motivation the next time you have the front 11.

This may make you feel better... I usually throw One good ball, then 11 TURDBALLS! LOL  Good shooting, you're closer than I've ever been (front 9, then 10 PIN - done it twice).
