12 # Balls with full cores ....
« on: February 11, 2009, 02:09:34 AM »
Question for some pro shop guys. What balls are you aware of that contain a full blown core in the 12# weight. There are probably not that many, and I am already familiar with the Scouts, Tornado's, Jazz, Power Grooves. She already has a Tropical, but looking for stronger cover with a core in 12#.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I inquired with Jeff Ussery at Hammer a few weeks ago and he told me they use a modification of the diesel core in their 12 lb balls.  --  JohnP

Brunswick uses some generic cores in their leightweight 12 & 13 lbs. balls (ZonePro and early asym. Zone designs), check this: http://www.brunswickbowling.com/uploads/ux/qR/uxqR1UJXvqixMzXOvF2I6A/dynamics_weights.pdf

Not sure about Storm, but I think they also use a generic core design, but have a dynamic core at 12 lbs.

From what I remember from a seminar a few years back, all Storm equipment 12-16 have normal cores.

I remember going to a seminar and they had a staffer throw 10 shots on a lane with Trifecta #1 and 10 shots with Trifecta #2.  Then we were asked which ball was 16#, and which was 13#.  We figured #2 was because it hooked more and carried fairly well compared to the other (#1 left 4 ring 10's, #2 only 1).  The staffer was actually hooking and carrying better with the 13# cause he could hit it more and create more angle, and because of dynamic cores, he didn't sacrifice carry.  Just my $.02

Me: "These lanes are tight. I have 2 boards!"
My buddy with front 8: "Me too!"
Me: "Yeah, but yours both have arrows on them, and an arrow in between!"
