ESPN pre-empts bowling again without notice
« on: March 19, 2011, 06:39:43 AM »
Today, ESPN pre-empted bowling on Classic for tennis--right before the conclusion of the championship match.  Why?  So they could show a tennis match in a ho-hum tournament--not even a classic event, but live.  I notice while they are doing this they are showing Sports Center on ESPN main.  Why couldn't they pre-empt THAT?  So, bowlers got hosed in favor of a no-name tennis tourney and Sports Center.
Yes, I know it's their network.  I know they have done this before.  But it's my subscription--not for long.  The ONLY reason I have\\\\ had Classic is\\ was for the bowling.  Stay classy, ESPN.

Probably because bowling has lower ratings then tennis or most any other sport. No one watches. Even though most of the true classic shows are better then anything you will see since bowling has gone to espn.

Be good, or be good at it.
…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.

I would rather watch paint dry than watch a tennis match.

The Tennis was actually scheduled on the ABC affiliate, and was being broadcast there. Then, when it became imminent that the POTUS was about to make an announcement about our involvement in the Libyan situation, the tennis was moved to ESPN classic to make room for the POTUS to make his public announcement.

I didn't like it either, but not everyone has ESPN classic, and most DO have regular broadcast channels, so a regular broadcast channel was made available, and a LIVE event was moved and pre empted  a taped event.
