fedex - ball cracked on delivery - what to do??
« on: December 21, 2004, 04:57:48 AM »
Hey

I sent out a ball for trade to another user via fedex ground.  when it arrived it had a 1 inch crack in it.  will fedex cover this??  I specified the ball was $90 so it was covered by default ($100 and under).  Do I have to go through hoops to have this ball refunded for insurance.  Any experiences from users on what to do??

ps:  the ball was delvered to the Front Door and later opened.  it was not inspected upon delivery.

I had something like this happen one other time and they denied the claim saying the ball was used and not new and it could have been cracked when it was shipped.

Good luck with your claim..

Heres what you have to do. I went through this same thing while trading with another BR member (Cooksey). The person that sent the ball needs to fill out a claim, you can do this online. Then you must prove the value of the ball, you can use an invoice of when you bought it. When I had my problem I didn't have an invoice or anything because I had traded for that ball, so what I did was use a paypal invoice from another ball I bought. After that all you need to do is wait on a check, if the cracked ball can be repaired they will let you keep the ball and the money.

I guess I didn't get my insurance claim approved because I didn't try to deceive or lie to Fed ex..

I told them the truth of what happened and they denied it..

Oh well..

The good news is you used fedex or ups. When the USPS breaks something, they'll cover all BUT the shipping fees.
Their reason? "Well, we got it there."
