Do you like where you bowl?
« on: October 28, 2008, 07:32:01 AM »
Hey guys Do you like where you bowl? Why or why not? I ask because last couple of season I really haven't liked where I have bowled and was wondering if anyone else encounters the same thing or if I am that much of prick that no one wants me around except my teammates which follow me around from bowling alley to bowling alley.

I love where I bowl this season T&O Lanes in Oshkosh WI. Over the top returns no hand dryers and no auto score just an old school place that is very kept up lanes are 20 feet of Guardian then wood after that. the atmosphere is awesome their are no jerks their just a group of bowlers lookikng to be loud and have a really good time. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a change.

I absolutely hate where I bowl, wish there was another feasible option but there is only one alley in town and its a good haul to another place to bowl.

I'm very happy with the place i bowl at this yr.   It's the only place in town, so unless i plan on going else where, i'm content with what is offer'd.

The place has 18 lanes, all synthetic, wood approaches, Qubeca scoring.   They have like 24 plasma screen Tv's scatter'd around the bar and out on the lanes, so you wont miss a football, baseball, basketball or hockey game.

They have plenty of choices for beer or liquor, and a good selection of food from thier grill.

I know this is about on par, but at the beginning of the yr, some guy was complaining about the price of open bowling, which i think is 3.50$ during the week and 5$ on the weekend, and I responded with the " well what do you expect when they are the only bowling alley in 30miles "    And i even said, well "striketown"  the old bowling alley which closed back in april or may, had the 1$ bowling basically all the time, and the cheapest and coldest beer in town.

His answer was, well that place was a dump, and the lanes sucked.   I answer'd with it might have been, but they had cheap bowling available for everyone, and now your stuck with the only show in town.

i've found that most bowling centers have pros and cons-----they all have their own little niche.

Well lets just say I could be a lot happier with my local place.  Pretty much the only upside to it is that it's only about 3 miles from my house.  16 OLD wood lanes(not even enough left to be resurfaced!) garbage Phoenix oiler.  The owner never comes around, and the operator could care less he's rarely there even on his own league night.  A league night rarely goes by that something doesn't break and people have to be moved to another pair.  They only dress the first 10 on a regular basis, and 11-12 if they have to, but where they are so dry they soak it up in about 5 frames!  Sadly my only other choice is about 40 mins away, and with gas the way it was a the beginning of the season it just wasn't practical, however if gas prices continue to stay down, or I can carpool I will definitely be going there next year!

nope i dont like where i bowl at
its dirty
lanes arent kept up
aproaches are nasty
back of the house is nasty
bar is nasty
i wont throw new balls @ this house because they will get chewed up in the back

there is only one other house in my area, but they just put down synthetic lanes w/ neon orange feathers that no body can even see, but it is kept up much better.

i will be bowling @ another house next year fer sure

I guess I do for the most part.  I like the fact that there is no wall to bounce off of for once.  The shot is also longer and a bit heavier than I'm accustomed to.

The only thing I don't really like is that the only oil the lanes in the morning.  So, if alot of people come and bowl before that, it can be pretty damn spotty sometimes.

I prefer Brunswick alleys or good independent alleys which are rare. Reason I like Brunswick alleys is because most of them treat league bowlers right and the prices are good along with all the free games I can use.

That's cheating

Yes, I like both centers I bowl in.  One's synthetic and one's wood, so I get to see both kinds of lane conditions.
