We do a few things on my Thurs night league.

Everyone puts up a buck for high game

Everyone puts up a buck for cards (Keep 6, wild card comes out when we "hang" someone and everyone except him gets a card.  Good Joker AND Bad Joker in the deck, Good allows you to take any card from a teammates hand Bad Joker means you lose your best card)

"The Five" game.  Everyone puts a buck up and draws a card.  High card "starts with the five".  IF he is clean thru the whole game he wins the five, if he opens it drops to the next person.  If 5 spot opens it drops to the 1 hole.  Whoever has it in the end wins.

Currently (5 people, 3M, 2F):
- $1 for cards per game .  2 for strikes, 1 for spares. Using 2 decks with jokers, no wild cards.

- $2 high score per game - only guys play this.

Used to:
- $1 for cards - 12 card limit (put in place because we had a bowler that always seemed to throw 8+ strikes per game....and we only had 2 decks of cards!)

- "turkey" gets you $1 from each teammate. 6 in row gets $2, 9 in row gets $3, etc.

- Get hung - you pay each teammate $1.

Other ideas that were thrown around:
- Quarter strike pot.  You put in a quarter every time you strike.  Most strikes at end of game (or night) gets the pot.

- Nickel or dime spare pot - same as above except with spares.

I've been on a few teams that did variations of the above....one different thing we did was the "hall of lost frames"

Every time you opened you owed $1

Every time you got hung...$1

If you got hung...on an open..$2

We totalled it up all year and used the money to go to a nice dinner.  I think we had something like $250 in the pot.  It was a nice steakhouse...and the money ended up being close to even in the end.

We play $1 for cards and $1 for high game.  If you get stuck, you put $4 into those pots and watch them grow  I've taken over $20 off the table in one game.  It gets very interesting.

We also do $.50 strikes.  If more than 1 person strikes in a frame you all put in $.50.  If only one person strikes, they get the pot.  If that doesn't happen all night, then the pot carries to the 10th frame of the 3rd game and it becomes best first ball.  i.e. 9/ is better than 8/ obviously.  A tie at the end goes to a split pot.

We do a skins game. 5 man team with each bowler paying $6 for a 3 game set. Two bowlers or more strike in a frame and we move a dollar over to the pot. When only one guy strikes he wins the pot. Sometimes it may be a couple dollars. At tournaments in singles/doubles I have seen the pot get up to $60 or more. League pots get up over $20 on a regular basis.

We do Hangers for a dollar, 3 dollar Max for a one game (9 per night) At the end of the year we use the money to have a great party, food, boos, and ladies.

Anyone slacking also gets mercilessly ripped on until their attitude improves.
