Title: 15 vs 16
Post by: tenpin477 on June 24, 2008, 03:06:31 AM
I throw 16 lb equipment.
There was an old Burgandy Hammer in great shape on the rack at my center so I decided to take it home, and will get it plugged and redrilled, but I think it may be 15lbs. My question is would the one lb drop in weight make that big of a difference in my timing and anything else?

Nothing that isn't easily corrected. I went 16 to 15 and then 14 and never had issues.

There is nothing so easy to learn as experience and nothing so hard to apply.

After going back to 16 lb about 2 1/2 years ago, I tried one outing about 2 weeks ago with several of my old 15 lb balls. While some were OK, in general, the lighter weight threw my timing and release off a good deal. I was fairly uncomfortable. I put them away for when I need to use them, when I can't handle 16 lb anymore. It may be sooner or later, but it isn't right now.

An interesting article on this topic from 1995.
