157 avg shoots 300
« on: February 09, 2005, 10:19:24 AM »
A kid in our house who looks to be about 12 or 13 years old, has a 157 average shot a 300 on saturday. This was at sunnybrook lanes in michigan, and i'm always surprised that he carry's the 5 pin, he throws the ball so slow (don't patronize me for being harsh on him, he isn't one of the nicest people in the world). Whats the lowest average you've seen shoot 300?

I would suggest that he didn't shoot 300. He tripped over it! (LOL)

He threw 11 good shots, all high flush, which is the only way he can carry, and a brooklyn on the last shot. The house is extremely forgiving, but you have to give him credit for being in the pocket 11 times.

I was only making light of a 157 bowler shooting 300.

I remember, way back in the late 70s, there was a lady in the Santa Cruz CA area with an average around 100 who shot a 300 game with an eight-pound house ball.  I recall having read the story in a local bowling publication.  Supposedly, after she threw the strike in the 10th, she went back to the settee to change her shoes, because she thought that she was done with the game.  Her teammates informed her that she still had two more shots to throw, so she proceeded to walk up and get the last two for the perfecto.

An older lady here locally shot 300, and then went back and told her teammates that now that was done, maybe some day she'd shoot 600!
She'd never had a 600 series - and didn't that day, either!

Ltwd, they announced his name over the pa when he shot it, and there were a lot of people around the area, we were on pair 7 and 8. I cannot recall his name, but you can ask around next week if your interested. He bowls in seniors btw too. The shot absolutely killed me that day, I don't think i've left that many splits on a house shot all year.

Kind of a tangent here, but the shot is really frustrating me, as i had it so down at the beginning of the year, and have now proceeded to lose 20 pins on my average (i'm at 204 now). In my wednesday league, however, I shot 1006 for 4, and i have been killing the shot then. Must be the lack of sleep on saturdays/lack of caring since my team is out of it thats doing it.
