New ball
« on: October 09, 2004, 07:28:48 AM »
Ive seen people ask on here for a new ball.. I dont know much info about my game, but I am a cranker with medium speed. I dont know my PAP or any of that stuff. I bowl on Oil, Dry, Medium, carrydown, you name it I bowl on it. What would you guys suggest be my next ball? Im lookin for somthing I can adjust very easy with when the lanes break down or is flooded. Right now I throw a Track VooDoo with a basic drill over  the Track label, pin next to fingers. If anyone has any suggestions let me know. Thanks.

Cody,

Please clarify.
Are you looking for a replacement for your VooDoo, which was an excellent general ball?
OR
are you looking for a complement to the VooDoo for drier lanes?
Or
for a complement to your VooDoo for oilier lanes?

As PhireX stated, there is no ball that will handle both drier and oilier conditions.

As a general replacement for the VooDoo, if you wish to stick to Track balls, from all the recent comments and mini-reviews posted here, the Freak-a-Zoid seems to be their best generic ball.

I adjust as fast as I can, but bowling on saturday with the leftover friday night shot which is 2 squads with no reoil is a pain to bowl on.. You dont know what your goin to get until you start bowlin.

My Voodoo was a good all around ball, I played it on a sport shot, dry, floods, anything that was laid out and it worked well. I kinda want a ball that will do the same. I know I have to move its not like I want to stand in one place and throw it, I know I have to move. So I guess I am lookin for a ball to replace the voodoo.. I was looking at a columbia 300 shock, but I am not sure if thats what im looking for or not.

Medium-light?  Sounds like a job for the Power Groove reactive.  Best ball for medium-light, bar none.

Nuff said.

For several years I used Brunswick's HPD on several different shots. Being a high gloss proactive I was able to move right and play up the boards in oil, and swing it as needed by moving left depending on carrydown and overall lane condition.
Threw a 300 and 4 700s with this ball on varying conditions, so this might not be a bad way to go IMHO.

I kind of thought this is the replies you would get .. your clarification says MED-DRY .. sounds like LIGHT OIL to me .. give the AMF  JUSTICE PEARL a whirl!

Generic balls to replace the VooDoo:

Brunswick Bruiser
Columbia Detour
Storm Hot Rod Pro Stock
Dyno-Thane Vendetta Black (needs slight polish to make it equivalent to the others)
Roto-Grip Silver Streak
Track Freak-a-Zoid
Visionary Blue Gryphon
