1st 300 in a tourney
« on: June 13, 2004, 09:44:52 PM »
Just wanted to share.  Yesterday in a tourney I threw a perfect game.  I've shot 300's in the past (distance past)lol.. But never in a tournament.  It felt alot different than doing it before, pratice, a league or two.  I can't really explain the feeling.  What are your feelings on this?  Whether it being shooting a perfect in practice, league or tournament, is there a difference in feeling?  I'm definitely excited and overwhelmed just a little more then the past successful games.

Congratulations. It does feel very different. Pretty exhilarating!
Was the tournament sanctioned, so you'll get awards?

I know how you feel.  When I was 15--about 4 years ago--I threw the first 300 game in Indiana High School Bowling History in its inagural season.  Not only was it exilhirating for me but 2 of my teammates actually jumped over the ball return and there was at least 30 people on the lanes.  The scary part was we were the last ones to finish so there were 500 people gathered behind my lanes.  And now 4 years later in my first ABC year I shot one in the 12 game marathon at my home house and again it was so exilhirating.  The feeling never ends....like an all-time high.

Congrats on your 300...I had my first tournament 300 this year as well.

For me, it felt great to accomplish this goal that was dangling over my head.  Not only did it finally happen, but also it was at a house that I bowl at maybe twice a year.

Sure is a great feeling isn't it?  Honestly, when I think back on the honor scores that mean to the most to me the ones that stick out beyond the "firsts" were ones that set to rest a goal of mine (tournament 300) or over came a big challenge (822 at a local house with an old wood surface that wasn't known for the best carry in the world).

Honor scores are great, but the level of personal pride felt by shooting them is always dependent on the circumstances they are thrown under.

The reason I asked is that a friend of mine shot her first (and only) 300 in a tournament a couple of years ago.
Since we all needed to show WIBC cards at checkin, we all thought the tournament was sanctioned. She found out the hard way that it wasn't.

Then, it happened to another bowler last year - same tournament. Sigh.

Great shooting.

To my way of thinking shooting 300 or 800 in a tournament is the ultimate goal.  After all, isn't that why we put some much time/money into practice and equipment.
