Sandbagging

How about this:

For many years there was a league (good money in it for this area). The house was an old not taken care of house and lane conditions we not ever consistant week to week. Plus they broke down fast and alot sometimes moving as many as 20 boards with your feet in a night.

Anyway, the league average was like 172. High average was 2teens with maybe 10 guys above 200 out of a 28 team league. Needless to say the score were low.

However, just about the entire league (including USBC and league officials) all SANDBAG when they cant win. Intentionally throwing gutter balls or trying to get 2 pins (7 and 10) on full racks. If they cant win in the 8th, they start. I bowled the league for 3 years and the league finally split up and half went to a new center (which is better this year). I raised awareness to USBC and nothing ever happened except I got funny looks for league members.

What are you to do?

Sandbagging is hard to prove. But you can do it.  You have to write down every incidence, the date, the circumstance and hopefully with other witnesses.  Then prove that they are using that lower average to win tournaments/leagues and therefore money.  It takes a track record of this behavior, not just one time or month or even year. All complaints MUST be in writing.  We get complaints all the time, but without it being in writing its just pretty much hearsay.

Camera phone!! Thats what I did. I had a similar problem, so I started recording it via my black berry! They were penalized team points.
