2 ball house shot arsenal
« on: September 17, 2009, 03:54:42 PM »
Here is the scenario - You have enough money for 2 new balls.  They can be from any manufacturer, but have to be readily available (either current or previous years lineup).  You will normally see house conditions ranging from Medium-Heavy to light.  Very rarely will you see heavy oil, and when you do you'll have to get by with surface changes on the balls you have.  It is assumed that you will use a polyester or urethane ball for spares and dry conditions, this ball is not a part of the 2 you need to buy.

Obviously you can't cover every condition with 2 balls, so the ones you choose have to be versatile enough to get by.  Which 2 do you pick, and why?

IMHO, a very good and cost-effective combo would be a Brunswick Copperhead for the oilier/fresh conditions (pin under the fingers), and a Swarm (might be replaced by a Solid or Blk/Gr. Avalanche withs slightly stronger setup) with the pin above the fingers. Would cover 90% except total extremes, the PK18 covers can be easily adjusted, and they are pretty cheap pieces with a sound price/preformance ratio.

Ok play time. Rattler for when I need something to snap. Copperhead for when I need arch. Since could always use the urethane for the light oil. I am no expert by any means so YMMV.

New Breed Solid for the medium to medium heavy and either a Gladiator Pearl or Ogre Pearl for everything else.

A little hand out of the all of them make a world of difference for how long they can be used and where they can be played.  Same with anything else for that matter.....but I don't throw anything but Vis.

Hyroad for everything but the extremely light oil then an Avalance SLide or Pearl for that.

x2 !

I would pick this because the hyroad works on a very wide range of lane conditions even OOB but could be sanded for more traction if needed. Avalanche slide because of the weak cover and the very rolly core which helps to eliminate over/under.

Columbia 300 Noize at box finish. Then when you burn a spot up on the lane pull out your Raw Hammer Burn and get deeper and bank it off the dry. Thats what I do!

how much money is the question becauseI may be able to get you 3 to cover everything.. 2 columbia freezes 1 pin up oob. 1 pin down taken to 2000.. and any other high end ball for heavy stuff. or buy a noize pin down for the heavy stuff. you will be under 400 total for thos 3 balls.. I can almost guaranteeunless they are chrging 200 for noizes in ur area..

I would probably used my BWS with pin down drill at 1000 and then go to my BWP pin up at 2000 or 4000 with polish or Black Vibe.

Cool noize and loud noize just be great 1 2 punch. It really depends on the shot. For me this work great but if you run into more oil or have slow ball speed along with low rev rate then I would go with noize and loud noize
