2 ball house shot arsenal
« on: September 17, 2009, 03:54:42 PM »
Here is the scenario - You have enough money for 2 new balls.  They can be from any manufacturer, but have to be readily available (either current or previous years lineup).  You will normally see house conditions ranging from Medium-Heavy to light.  Very rarely will you see heavy oil, and when you do you'll have to get by with surface changes on the balls you have.  It is assumed that you will use a polyester or urethane ball for spares and dry conditions, this ball is not a part of the 2 you need to buy.

Obviously you can't cover every condition with 2 balls, so the ones you choose have to be versatile enough to get by.  Which 2 do you pick, and why?

Virtual Gravity and Natural. The VG either polished of OOB for medium to medium heavy. The Natural OOB drilled pin under when it is time to put the VG up. The Natural will give you a consistent roll, even with carry down, if you are consistent with your release and can control your speed.

I just bought Columbia products for first time in 20 + years (since the Bleeder) and I really like the look of Columbia's 300 lineup of the Bedlam and the Freeze.

I cannot believe that these 2 have not been mentioned in tandem yet...

Storm's Fast and Furious make about teh best 1-2 punch out there. Add in a Natural for when the backends really fly and you have it all covered short of the soup.

Any manufacturer, a solid and a pearl from the same line. For example Ogre Solid and Ogre Pearl, Cell and Cell Pearl.

Maxxx Zone....Smash Zone
Similar enough to be comfortable i.e. similar roll characteristics
Different enough to cover most lane conditions.
Readily available and under appreciated so they are cheap
All pluses for me

although we don't know much about the hype yet.

Clutch and Hype pearl sounds like a really good setup.
