venting
« on: September 15, 2009, 03:34:00 PM »
The first too games were alright. I had a 205 and then a 215.  I started off the 3rd game with 9/ X X.  Then a lady spills her soda. None got on the approach but it did get the bottom of two peoples shoes. So they get it dried up and then they decide they need to put some rosin or some kind of powder substance on their shoes. They spread it all over the approach. Even with me telling them that they shouldn't do it anymore, they continued to do it before almost every frame.  I ended up with a 140 and a really sore knee. Luckily no one got hurt.

@#%^*$#$%^&*    at least I kept my cool and the league prez will address the issue next week.

It is against the rules to put powder down you could have told the league president and action should have been taken

+1 it is against USBC rules to apply any substance onto an approach that can affect another bowler.

League president is new and said he does not know the rule but said he would by next Tuesday. Also there were just young people working at the time and they were not any help.

Even a "new" league president should know (or learn) the rules before taking up his job.  It amazes me how someone can be voted in as president and afterwards he admits that he doesn't know the rules.  Incredible.

He should have the rule book at league. We got two for our league (One for Secretary and the other for the President). The statement made to you is basically this: "I am new, do not know the rules, hoping you forget next time we bowl."

quote:
Rule 12 - Approaches Must Not Be Defaced

The application of any foreign substance on any part of the approach that detracts from the possibility of other players having normal conditions is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to talcum powder, pumice and resin on shoes, and/or soft rubber soles or heels that rub off on the approach.

12/1 One of the bowlers is having a difficult time sliding on the approach and applies a commercial product purchased at the center pro shop to the bottom of his/her shoes. The product is designed to help a bowler slide. The secretary says she has received a complaint from the opposing team and notifies the individual to stop using the substance or the game will be forfeited. Can an officer tell a bowler to stop using the substance and declare the game forfeited?

Commercial products, talcum powder or any substance applied to the shoe or approach could be in violation of Rule 12. If a league participant uses a substance and somebody complains that it prohibits him/her from having normal conditions, the league officer should require the individual to immediately stop his/her action. If the individual refuses, his/her games are subject to forfeiture.

If you had a rule book it would of stopped right there. As you stated, thank goodnes noone got hurt. Then your league and the center would have had a real problem on their hands.

Ya really. I've never experienced most of this the stuff that people come up with on these boards.
