How do you tell them apart? I keep delaying the game by not knowing that ball is which. Can you use a pro shop crayon?

Anyway, you know which ball is yours because most likely the holes in the ball that isn't yours will be quite diffrent ;)
And if you still struggle with finding your ball, get your PSO to give you colored holes. On my Grudge and Freak Show I have green thumbholes.
It was what the PSO had, didn't choose them because I struggle with finding my balls. My fingers are much smaller smaller than most I bowl with.

around here, the hyper cell-skid was a very popular ball. on any given league night, it was normal to see 3-5 on the rack at a time. the way i always was able to decipher mine was A) my interchangeable thumb slug is purple. and I don't use inserts.

Put a dab of your girlfriend's finger nail polish right in the middle of your grip on the "strike ball" and nothing on your spare ball. 

After that all you need to do is recognize which T-Zone is the strike ball and which is for spares.
