2 minutes in the Detox
« on: April 28, 2014, 09:56:00 AM »
Yeah I know I've been harping on this thing for a while now, but instead of yapping and talking or cutting back and forth or all over, it's just the camera focused on the ball for the first two minutes of a treatment.  The water has an ounce of the Accelerator in it, the ball has been "soaking" in the water for 5 minutes to warm it up, the water is at 120 degrees, and as soon as I start the video, you'll hear me turn the Detox on.  See what happens in just two minutes in this thing!

So how much is your commission on the Detox?  ;D

Gizmo should be paid for the effort he's putting into his marketing services.  ;)

How saturated was this ball before starting the treatment? Was it to the point of bleeding oil just sitting in a warm car trunk, or something less?

Yep, he should. The last time we had someone here humping a product this hard involved a bowling glove of some kind. I can't seem to remember the name though...  ;D

Just teasing you Giz. My local pro shop has one of the new Detox machines and although I was skeptical at first, after seeing it in action it really does seem to do a better job than the heat only methods(wet or dry).

Lmao, no commission . . just REALLY like this thing!

The ball had an estimated 100-150 games on it.  I updated the video's description to reflect some extra info, but it had been sitting in 120 degree water for 5-10 minutes (probably closer to 10, it was "soaking" while I was setting up the camera), and as you can see in the video, nothing had begun to come out yet.  Once I turned the ultrasound on, it pulled out quite a bit, and I ran a 30 minute treatment on it.  This being just the first 2 minutes, you can imagine what it looked like after 30, almost looked like 2 percent milk . .

Haha yeah . . the Accelerator actually has a cleaning agent in it too, so while it's extracting, it's also cleaning.  Instead of the oil just bleeding out and cleaning the surface off, this thing gets a lot deeper, and you CAN see it in the ball reaction.

Looks impressive….

It would be an interesting test to put a saturated ball through a full Revivor/Rejuvinator extraction process, and see how much more the Detox would be able to pull out.

I'm not sure it would actually pull any more oil out.  If you bleed all the oil out with a Revivor/Rejuvenator, I don't think this will get any more out.  It will however give you a very good deep clean, unclog pores, clean them out, give the tack back to the cover, etc., something that the ovens can't do.  It also is a lot gentler and safer on the ball, doesn't void warranties, and does the job MUCH quicker.  Like others have pointed out, unless you're booked solid with treatments, it's unlikely that the speed of the machine will result in much if any extra in revenue for the shop, BUT convenience to the customer is a lot bigger deal than you may expect.  A lot of people will change their mind on a resurface when they hear how long it's going to take, but I've had a lot of doubtful people decide to go ahead and get a Detox treatment when they hear it's only going to take a half hour.  They can either come to league a bit early, or have an extra ball done during league, or maybe they'll go have a beer in the bar and watch a half hour of a game, or maybe they even want to come watch it work.  Since they don't either have to sit and wait 2 hours or make another trip out later in the day or even the next day to pick it up, the convenience factor is really pretty big.

WTF?!

I've seen the title "Detox" before and I thought it was a new ball. I never opened up any post with "detox" in the title, because I thought it was a dumb name for a ball....but, I clicked on this post and I clicked on the link. I was thinking I was going to see Gizmo bowl.....instead I got a foot bath, only it's his ball....lol

Pretty cool though....

If you're removing oil (and dirt) with either method it's a good thing.  The Detox looks good, but oil extraction is only HALF the process.  Combine it with some resurfacing and you will finish the job.

The one plus I see with the Detox is that the ball will return to normal temperature much faster because the process is faster.  The bowler can use it earlier.  Often times if I have had a ball bleeding for hours in the Revivor for hours and hours it does take some time for the ball to cool (at a normal pace).

Yeah the way we explain it is it's like a flat and bald tire.  The Detox puts the air back in, but you still have to retread it.

It returns to normal (room) temperature within 5-10 minutes, and the thumbhole itself never changes temperature.  Someone can come in early to league, get a treatment, and go right out and bowl.  It also doesn't void any warranties.

I still fail to see the big deal.  I've seen that kind of thing after a few minutes in a plain hot bucket of water.  I know jewelry cleaners use ultrasonic, but I don't know what that's supposed to do for oil deep in the pores of a bowling ball.  I'm sure the device works well, but so do a half dozen other products.

If that happens in a plain hot bucket of water, then the water is way too hot, voiding warranties and damaging the ball.  We let the ball sit in the 120 degree water for 5-10 minutes to warm up first, and absolutely nothing happens until we turn the ultrasound on.  It gets deep into the pores of a ball, that's the point.  When compared to other products, the Detox is safer, easier to use, easier on the ball, and much more effective and efficient.  The boss did some extensive research and comparison testing before he bought it.  I've been doing this almost a decade myself, have seen and used everything, and this is by far the best method of oil extraction I've come across by a long shot.
