First night of ABC tonight
« on: August 31, 2004, 04:00:22 PM »
Well I moved up this fall, had last junior tourny this past weekend and first week of league tonight.  Had a pretty good time, bowling with 3 of my good friends, 2 from my collegiate team.  Pretty good league i guess, 48 teams (4 person), we are high average so we will have to shoot pretty high every week.  Went 236, 227, and 210.  4,6,7 in the 10th the last game.  Didn't get in any brackets or cut the field,  lack of funds and just wanted to kind of have fun.
I felt pretty welcomed by most of the guys, we bowled against some of the better bowlers in the league.  Only won 1 of 4 points, so we'll have to change that next week.  I just hope i can make some money considering i'm not used to paying $20 a night for league.

Mike, its kind of a cool feeling being welcomed by all the bowlers who have probably seen you grow as bowler for some time and now you actually get to bowl with them.  I know thats how I felt last year when I bowled in my first ABC league with my dad.

TOC was alright, not as good as i would have liked.  The surface at Lane Glo is the worst, gaurdian heads and wood backends.  The pattern was fairly short, the ball hooked from anywhere, except out of 5.  Saw a bunch of 3 counts by the kids who didn't really know what they were doing.  I was 2nd saturday at 30 over.  Sunday I struggled in the morning, shot a bunch of 170's and only won 2 matches.  Then in the afternoon i made a run and got back to 6th in position round, needed to win by 7 to make top 5.  I was playin 5th arrow and had as much tilt as i could get to get it through the fronts and actually move in the back because there was sooooo much carrydown.  I threw it great the last game but 4,9'nd on a double and 4,6,7'd in there too.  That was all she wrote.  I really thought i was gona get in there, but doesn't help when the guy you bowl brooklyns for a double twice.
