ABC in arrears?
« on: August 31, 2004, 04:09:53 PM »
Got a question...if you're in an ABC league and the rule for the league states that any team cannot be in arrears more than one week and the last three weeks, no team can be in arrears, what happens when that team goes in arrears three weeks? There is no penalty that goes w/ that rule.  I'm trying to see b/c we just lost first place by 1.5 points to a team that is 3 weeks in arrears and nothing was done. They were also in arrears like 5 weeks ago, and we told the president, but nothing was done.  Now, the difference between first and second place is $1400, $700 a head b/c it's a doubles league....can anyone help me/???

Yep. The team should forfeit the points - that's the rule in all of my leagues. In addition, those points are supposed to go unawarded - your team would not get them.

The only thing is, is that after that rule, there is no penalty.  It specifically says that a team can not be more than one week in arrears. Then it goes on to say that any team cannot be in any arrears the last three weeks. Now the league is over and as of right now, they owe 140 bucks, which is just under 3 weeks in arrears. The league president knows it's his responsibilty, but from what I understand, since ABC governs the league, that it goes by their rules, but there is nothing said in there about being in arrears.  So now we have no clue what to do...and for about the last 7 or so weeks, we have been bowling them, every week is position and it's a doubles league and we play four games. What else can I do?  Any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated

E-mail ABC (or whatever it is now) and ask them for an interpretation and suggestions.  --  JohnP
