2 questions...
« on: November 03, 2004, 06:39:09 AM »
1.) Has anyone here ever bought any balls or equipment on ebay? If so, who was and or who would you recommend?

2.) Is bowlingball.com a legit online store. I went to their website after looking at the ebay store, and their number seems to be directed to a health clinic or something.

Helps out a ton you guys! Want to get back into bowling really, really bad but don't have the cash to shell out like that. I don't mind used balls anymore (can't believe I got over that hump...), but if possible I'd like to get some new stuff. Forgot all about ebay, but at the same time, was concerned if I could get certain specs and pin placements. Thanks again for the help. Keep adding the success stories too.

I noticed that they said that they can't look for every topweight and pin placement specification. What would you all say is an average topweight and pin placement to ask for or what range...either or is fine.

I think that would depend on the bowler and what he/she plans to do with the ball as far as drilling.  For myself, being a low tracker, I try to get low topweight, something around 2-3 oz range.  Reason being that I have been told that too much topweight and my lower track would give the ball too much length (most cases).  Pin placement about 2-3 inches.

If you are thinking of buying a bunch of balls NIB at the same time to build an arsenal, check out the Visionary test staff offer.

Shutout, I've asked for specific pin placeouts (but not top weights) from bowlingball when i win the auction and they've always provided.   Looks like if they got it, they'll give it to you.

I've purchased several balls of ebay from bowlingball.com and others.  Never had a problem.  Getting specific pins and top weights is a bit of a gamble, however.

Well, unless your planning on doing some "experiment" drilling, a 2-3 in pin and 2-3 oz. topweight ball should be fine right? I'd probably just have my pro do some basic/common drilling layouts for me. I don't need anything too fancy because I'm starting back into the game. I threw this old maroon Beast that he had lying around, and it had a stacked drilling layout. Man I loved that thing! If you throw it right it's a beautiful thing to witness, even if you don't hit the pocket!
