My Bowling Journal
« on: May 23, 2005, 06:00:40 PM »
As I've mentioned previously, I've been burning the midnight lane oil developing a Bowling Journal. It's still a work in progress, but it should handle the basic Journal functions such as record your scores/series/averages.  Perhaps the best part of this Journal is that it can handle "Leagues" with a format up to 10 games, which is great for bowlers who compete in tournament organizations, like PBA Regionals.

Feel free to visit the site at:
http://www.allbowling.com/journal/

Yes, you have be registered so that we can track your scores.  So feel free to join.

Coming soon:
A graphing feature to visualize your progress.
Track your averages for each pair of lanes.
Track your strike/spare percentages for each week.

I'm eager for folks to start using this so I can refine/improve it.  Your feedback is appreciated!

Tony

Well, I just increased the number of games available for a league to 12 games... which should accomodate the SASBA bowlers and other tournament groups.

Will this be similar to Gone Bowlin' or My Bowling Diary - with ability to track lanes, balls used, frame-by-frame scoring, etc, or just a way to track 3 game series?

I only ask because I already use Gone Bowlin', but it doesn't allow for tracking pin-fall.  Thanks to the score sheet you made (worked out great BTW - I thought it might be a little small, but it was perfect!), I'm seriously thinking about getting My Bowling Diary (gonna try the free demo first), might just be worth the $40 to really track my progress.

I'm still working on remembering board numbers - I just use the dots for my feet position and the arrows for ball target, and just make slight adjustments as needed (ex: left foot on 2nd dot left of center, ball to 3rd arrow from right).  Last night I noticed one lane played a little different so I had to move 1-2 boards with my feet - now I don't remember which lane it was and I didn't write it down last night!

Right now, this doesn't track frame pin-counts.  It is just a score tracker.

BUT.... I have plans to make it mirror that score sheet.  So everything you track on the score sheet, you would be able to track online.  That, of course, is a much more ambitious project and will take a while to develop.  But there is time since these features can be added as we go along and as long as you use the score sheet you will be able to update your previous weeks.

I'm going to activate a "Make Public" feature, so that you can show other people your Journal.   Right now, it's private and you are the only ones that can see it.
