« on: April 30, 2013, 03:46:34 PM »
I was just browsing ebay and among the Bowling Digest magazines for sale from various different sellers is the Sept/Oct 1993 issue of bowling digest; and on the cover of the magazine is featured.........

"The Resin ball explosion"

"This highly reactive ball can blow a rack to
pieces-------but is it making the game too easy?"

So I guess I am wondering, is verdict in yet??

Many people have the opportunity/ability to be pro, but financially it doesn't make sense. Why spend $$$$$ to make $$ when you can stay with your normal job and doing bowling in other tournaments at a much lower $$.

Many people do the same thing getting a college degree. The spend a lot of $$$$$$$ and acquire a lot of debt to get a degree that there is no market for. Then end up with a normal job they could have had all along minus the tons of debt in student loans.

There are many on tour that do not have the ability to do anything else...so if you can't make $$$$s bowling....what do you do?

lol I just can't bring myself to care that much anymore.

Like politics it gives me a headache thinking of how messed up things are. I will stick to enjoying bowling for what it is and the ignorance is bliss life.

They lost me with the joining of the associations for "financial reasons" followed by moving from a building up north to a new building in Texas during one of the most expensive construction cost times possible.

...............insert head into sand. I really do not want to know.

Apparently 50 mil isn't enough, now all the local associations have to take care of the awards they hand out . . which the USBC is still happy to provide . . for a price.

The real problem is NOT the bowling balls.  I'd pick lane conditions, pins, side walls, & flat gutters over the balls any day of the week and twice on Sundays.  If you think about it if they somehow (although it's not realistic now) made the a mandate on the lane conditions and or made the pins heavier, the scores would go down with whatever ball you're using.

Now now now, wait a minute here, everybody has been arguing with me for months that a higher scoring pace isn't bad for bowling at all.

It's all relative (in my mind), I was just stating that "IF" anyone really wanted to lower scoring (which 90% of people could care less) the bowling balls would be near the bottom of the list of fixes...again my opinion.  Like I've stated before Gizmo, there is almost no way to change it now.  We have a difference in opinion on things but, I like your passion for the subject and for the sport.

I agree, my opinions are all perfect world opinions, but in reality, you're right.  It's just gonna have to run its course, and whatever happens is gonna happen.
